SECRET OF THE SECRET PLACE

For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock – Psalm 27:5

The first verse of Psalm 91 – our Divine 9-1-1 – underlines the truth that those who cultivate an intimate touch with God will enjoy His protection: "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." We can rest assured in perfect peace and holy serenity, that if we choose God rather than Man as our Defender and Protector, we'll find in Him everything we could ever need or want. There is a ‘place’ in God that is called “the Secret Place of the Most High”, “His Pavilion” or “the Secret of His tabernacle” (Psa.27:5). This can be likened to His ‘Bedroom’ or private Chamber. The Secret Place of the Most High is certainly not a location that anyone would casually loiter around or wander into.

What an incredible invitation by the awesome God of the universe! The Most High invites us to an active, living, breathing, and growing relationship with Him! He wants us to establish a meaningful secret place connection with His Spirit and His Word. Will you say “Yes” to this incredible invitation? The Secret Place is the place of divine intimacy; the secret of God’s Presence: “You shall hide them in the secret place of Your Presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues” (Psa.31:20). These are our Defender’s sure promises and they can be your portion!

The promises of God in Christ are yea, and in Him, Amen. This means that every promise that God makes to believers in Christ will definitely be fulfilled (2Cor.1:20). Whether these are the assurance of eternal salvation, perfect peace of heart and mind, or divine defence, safety and security in the face of imminent dangers, all of God’s promises in Christ will surely come to pass. In this month of Divine Defence, God is reassuring us of His wonderful promises of protection (“He shall hide me”) and elevation (“He shall set me”) both of which derive from dwelling in the Secret Place of the Most High (Psa.27:5).

As an author aptly said, “The Secret Place IS the secret”! According to Psalm 27, in the Secret Place of the Most High, you’ll know Him as your Light, Salvation, and Strength; you will be immune from fear; your enemies will stumble and your foes will fall; you will behold the beauty of the LORD and be guided aright; you will be hidden from trouble and be rescued and lifted by the Rock; and your head shall be exalted above your enemies all around you! It’s time to press into the Secret Place!
