THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM

And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the SPIRIT of WISDOM; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses – Deuteronomy 34:9

God is a Spirit. His Wisdom is spiritual. His Wisdom is a work of the Holy Spirit. Joshua walked in dominion, commanding leadership, and Victory by the fullness of the Spirit of Wisdom (Dt.34:9). By the Spirit of God in and upon Him, the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, displayed uncommon wisdom, understanding, and prudence (Isa.11:1-4; Col.2:3). With supreme acuity of wisdom, He knew and exposed the designs and thoughts of His enemies (Mt.9:4-8). He confounded their heretical notions with brilliant and probing questions and puzzles (Mt. 22:15-46).

The Spirit of Wisdom describes all of God's supernatural Thoughts that He has already placed in our hearts at the new birth. God inscribes or engraves His Word in our hearts (Heb.8:10). His Wisdom is His supernatural intelligence; His secret knowledge. His Wisdom is like a hidden “mystery” that can only be revealed by His Spirit. God's Wisdom is different from and superior to the wisdom of the world, because it cannot be purchased, it cannot be studied for, or earned by self-effort. There are many highly intelligent men who have exhaustive knowledge of the world's wisdom, but are completely ignorant of God's Wisdom, Thoughts and Word: “Great men are not always wise…” (Job 32:9). Indeed, the foolishness of God is wiser than the greatest wisdom of man! (1 Cor. 1:25).

God wants all believers to possess the Spirit of wisdom. It is one thing to have the Holy Spirit inside you, but it is another thing to have the Holy Spirit flow and function as the Spirit of Wisdom within you. Paul prayed that the Father would give to His children the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ (Eph.1:17). When the Spirit of Wisdom prevails, there is no problem that cannot be resolved, no puzzle that cannot be dissolved, and no daunting task that cannot be accomplished. God’s Wisdom surmounts them all. This Wisdom is the foundation of our lives and the basis upon which the rest of our spiritual “house” will be built. So, let His Word – His Wisdom – be your sustenance, nourishment, and daily bread.
