Two Faces of Favour

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: – Ephesians 1:3

There are two views, perspectives or ‘faces’ of favour: one seems to be random; the other covenant-based. The seemingly random view of favour is when God manifests in human affairs from time to time however and whenever He wills. For example, no one can question why His healing power would touch someone who is not born again, someone outside the covenant of healing and leave others untouched. Such manifestations of favour appear to be random in operation, although in reality they are divinely ordered towards fulfilling an eternal purpose. From a human perspective they depict a degree of unpredictability. It is not always clear or certain when one can expect such occurrences of favour.

The covenant-based perspective to favour views it as being predictable, purposeful, specific and sure – clearly directed at fulfilling God’s covenant promises. Jehovah assures: “My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips” (Psa.89:34). Covenant-favour is Bible-based, heavenly-guaranteed and power-backed. God’s favour follows all of His covenant-promises in the Bible. These promises belong to all believers by rights of redemption and can be demanded and activated by faith: “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2Pet.1:3).

If you are a Believer-in-Christ, you have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph.1:3). You are no longer an alien or stranger from the covenants of promise (Eph.2:12). By the New Birth, you became a covenant-child of God and a partaker of His promise (Eph.3:6). You are blessed: divinely endowed to blossom, flourish and prosper. You are surrounded by unmerited blessings, goodness and mercy. God desires that you consistently confess, declare, decree, prophesy and call these forth into manifestation. As you meditate on and declare the promises in His Word, you will see them come to pass in your life with greater frequency and intensity. You are blessed and highly favoured in all you step out to do. Under the canopy of God’s favour, get ready to receive the best of His blessings in all facets of your life.
