VISION OF LIFE’S ASSIGNMENT (2)

“HE SENT a man before them – Joseph – who was SOLD as a slave” – Psalm 105:17

Stirred by Divine Dreams in his teen age, Joseph witnessed full fulfilment of the VISION of LIFE’S ASSIGNMENT: “HE SENT a man before them – Joseph – who was SOLD as a slave. They hurt his feet with fetters, he was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him. The king sent and released him, the ruler of the people let him go free. He made him LORD of his house, and RULER of all his possessions, to bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom” (Psa.105:17-22). This was the Psalmist’s record of Joseph’s Journey of Destiny! This means that Joseph was a ‘Sent-one’ on divine assignment, though he was sold as a slave!

Joseph’s Vision was tested and tried through the fire of affliction, but it did not bend or burn. After the Word of the Lord came to try him and he overcame, there was no other option than for the king to send for, loose, and free Joseph. In the fullness of time, his childhood dreams found fulfilment: “But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you SOLD me here; for GOD SENT ME before you TO PRESERVE LIFE…And GOD SENT ME before you TO PRESERVE a POSTERITY for you in the earth, and TO SAVE YOUR LIVES by a great deliverance. So now it was not you who sent me here, but God…” (Gen. 45:5, 7-8a). The Light of Vision had found expression!

MEN SOLD HIM; but GOD SENT HIM, and SET HIM UP high above his adversaries. At the end of the journey of destiny, those who once disdained and defied Joseph’s vision, who threatened to abort it at birth, came to bow down before him in Egypt. He in turn became a fountain of blessing unto them. One of the vilest aims of the devil is to destroy a believer’s vision, so that devoid of vision, he or she becomes an easy prey to the enemy: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he” (Pro. 29:18, kjv).

Light is the unassailable answer to darkness and wickedness. To win in the battles of life, we cannot afford to swing like a pendulum between light and darkness. By the Light of Vision, Joseph shined in a strange land until he became a “FATHER to PHARAOH, and LORD of all his house, and a RULER throughout all the land of Egypt (Gen. 45:8b). He patiently pursued his Vision of Leadership Greatness and Preservation of Posterity for his larger family; and became a blessing to those who once despised his vision. Every true vision will be tested and tried. From the pit, to Potiphar’s house, to the prison, the Vision was strengthened to shine brighter until it ushered him into the Palace of Fulfillment.
