WALK IN GOD’S WISDOM WAYS

“I have taught you in the WAY of WISDOM; I have led you in right paths”– Proverbs 4:11

To Walk in God’s Way is to WALK in His WISDOM WAYS: “I have taught you in the WAY of WISDOM; I have led you in right paths” (Pro.4:11). As we praise the LORD for the new month, we shall by His Grace, delve deeper into His WISDOM WAYS. Essentially, Wisdom is the ability to discern what’s right from what’s wrong. It is the divine gift that enables us to make the right choices or decisions in destiny, and walk aright. If as it is often said. Knowledge is Power; then Wisdom is using that power the right way. One can be educated, enlightened, or intelligent, but without Wisdom, these assets may be in vain. An intelligent person could earn more fame and fortune, but a wise person could enjoy more friends, honour, divine favour, and peace of mind. Wisdom is a Principal Ingredient for Winning in all dimensions of destiny!

Wisdom is Divine Know-how – GOD’s HOW-TOs! 1 Kings 3:7 reveals this classical, biblical, Holy Spirit inspired definition: God asked Solomon to make a request, to which he replied, “…I KNOW NOT HOW to go out and come in.” God interpreted this as a request for Wisdom – KNOW-HOW! Without Wisdom any so-called attainment, result, performance, elevation, promotion, or glory is vain. It takes Wisdom to operate in God’s Realms of Glory! Wisdom is God’s creative Tool: “The Lord BY WISDOM founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens” (Pro. 3: 19). Wisdom accompanied the Words of Faith in creation. Creation’s order, harmony, beauty and balance reveal the superior intelligence of Divine Wisdom.

God’s Ways of Wisdom speak of His approaches, strategies, and ways of doing things. The Psalmist prayed for these: “Show me YOUR WAYS, O Lord; teach me YOUR PATHS. Lead me in YOUR TRUTH and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day” (Psa.25:4-5). God delights in answering such prayers: to show, teach, and lead us in His Wisdom Ways regarding all aspects of our lives, including the spiritual, marital, material, social, physical, professional, and ministerial. He has given us His Word and the Holy Spirit to guide us in His Wisdom Ways: “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Eph.1:17).

Ephesians 5: 15-17 is explicit on WALKING in WISDOM: “See then that you WALK CIRCUMSPECTLY, not as fools but AS WISE, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore DO NOT BE UNWISE, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” To be circumspect is to be cautious and wary. The word derives from a Latin word literally meaning “look around.” For the Believer in Christ to “walk circumspectly” means to look very carefully at how we live and behave. In the original Greek, the phrase means “to watch or look carefully at how you live, to be vigilant and mindful of your behaviour, to be on the lookout.” Peter gave a similar word of warning: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1Pet.5:8). In a sense therefore, Wisdom is vital to Spiritual Warfare!

Wisdom Ways are “right paths” (v.11). Longevity is the portion of those who choose to follow God’s Word and Ways: “Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many” (v.10). Their stability and speed are guaranteed: “When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble” (v.12). With deliberate, vigilant determination, Believers must be established in God’s Wisdom and the understanding of His Will. This implies intentional avoidance of the “path of the wicked” and “way of evil” (vv. 14-17, 19). God’s Wisdom Ways will ultimately lead into rewarding futures: “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day” (v.18).
