WISDOM FOR COVENANT HEALTH

“Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the CHILDREN’s BREAD and throw it to the little dogs” – Mark 7:27b

In addition to Healthy Living, God gives His children spiritual WISDOM for COVENANT HEALTH: “But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the CHILDREN’s BREAD and throw it to the little dogs” (Mk.7:27). Sound Health and Healing represent “the Children’s Bread” – the Covenant Portion of God’s Children for which we do not need to beg. John the Beloved prayed the Father’s Heart for our Health and Well-being when he wrote: “Beloved, I PRAY that you may PROSPER in all things and be in HEALTH, just as your soul prospers” (3Jh.2).

God’s Will for His children is wholesome health – spirit, mind, and body. However, we must not only MEDITATE in His Word, but also PRAY in faith, believing Him. Biblical Wisdom links HEALING and HEALTH to PRAYING: “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them PRAY over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and PRAY for one another, that you may be HEALED” (Jam.5: 13-15).

Beloved, please join me to pray to our Father-God, in the precious Name of Jesus:

Father-God, we praise You for every day that we wake up on this side of eternity. Each day is laced with purpose, and we gratefully ask for Your wisdom, guidance, direction, and protection every day.

Lord, let us enjoy good health; make our souls well and whole. Let Your goodness surround us all of our days, and let all things go well and be made well for us and all ours.

Lord, help us to keep strong and healthy in spirit, mind, and body; help us to overcome doubt and fear, rekindle hope and dreams; and meet all of our health-related spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical needs. 

Lord, You are the Source of health to our being. Guide, comfort, and strengthen us. Renew our minds; guide and guard our thoughts against anxiety, confusion, depression, envy, hate, worry, and all negative emotions. 

Lord, help us to handle and express our emotions well, in proper and healthy ways. Comfort and lift us from hurt. Calm us in distress. Heal us of every form of brokenness. Teach us to handle stress. Deepen our friendships. Strengthen our ties.  

Lord, let our hearts never grow cold, even though we’re growing older; and let us not be worn down physically or mentally.

Lord, let the Sun of righteousness always arise for us with healing in His wings, never to set!

David commanded His soul and all within him to praise the Lord: “Bless the LORD, O my soul; and ALL that is within me, bless His holy name!”  (Psa.103:1). God desires the same of us! I believe that the more my bodily and mental organs praise God, the healthier and more effective they’ll become. As my heart, brain, lungs, stomach, intestines, liver, kidneys, skeleton, muscles, nerves, hormones, arteries, veins, bones, bladder, and other organs praise God; they’ll never degenerate, malfunction, or lose vitality! Praise is evidence of Life: “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD”! (Psa.150:6a).

God created and redeemed us to proclaim His praises and reflect His Glory: “This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise” (Isa.43:21; 1Pet.2:9). Praise is an unfailing therapy that brings peace and clears anxiety (Phil.4:8). Praise is a supernatural lubricant: “the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness” (Isa.61:3b). Praise lifts burdens and causes blessings to flow. Like David, let’s command every organ in our being to bless His Holy Name.

The Wisdom of God demands that we take care of our health, practise basic health rules, reasonable exercises and good nutrition, seek regular medical attention, but above all, PRAY and WALK in HIS COVENANT, trusting for His best.
