WISDOM

For WISDOM is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her – Proverbs 8:11

There is a unique set of ‘triplets’ among the dimensions of LIGHT, namely: Knowledge, Wisdom, and Understanding. The three are often used interchangeably, but they are distinct. We meditated yesterday on Knowledge; today, on Wisdom. King Solomon once asked the Lord: "Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?"  Then God said to him: "Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life –but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king – wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like" (2 Chr. 1:10-12). God is the Source and Supplier of Wisdom and Knowledge!

Isaiah 33:6 also affirms: “Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation…” Romans 11: 33a speaks of “the depth of the riches both of the Wisdom and Knowledge of God! …” What then is Wisdom? Wisdom is divine Know-how, the How-Tos of God. Wisdom is the ‘How’ of knowledge – the accurate application of Knowledge. It is laying hold on God’s higher ways via His higher thoughts (Isa. 55:8-9). Wisdom is exploring God’s Way, approaches or strategies to doing things; knowing how to make it in life. It is the faculty by which God answers questions and solves problems. His Word is His Wisdom: knowing from the Word the scriptural steps to take, which way to go, and how to handle situations to produce desired results (2Tim.3:15). It is supernatural ability to bring solutions to dark matters too difficult for the natural mind.

We must differentiate between four kinds of wisdom: earthly, natural , commonsense “wisdom of this world”; sensual, scientific or intellectual wisdom; demonic, diabolical, satanic “wisdom…of the princes of this world, which come to nought”; and divine Wisdom “that is from above” (1Cor.2:6; Jam.3:13-17). All others equate zero relative to the unique virtues of divine wisdom. Our chief interest is therefore in the Wisdom which comes through God’s Word and Spirit. Divine Wisdom is supernatural; hence it is revealed by the Holy Spirit. The Light of Wisdom is available to all of God’s children. Practically, we get Wisdom by: entering into a personal relationship with God; praying for wisdom; meditating on God’s Word; walking with the wise; hearing and heeding the counsel of God’s servants; and seeking it with all of our heart (Jam.1:5; Pro.8:34-35; 13:20). God’s Wisdom is packaged in His Book, and is contacted by Revelation via Meditation (Jos.1;8; Psa.1:1-3; 1Cor.2:11; 2Tim.3:15).

Wisdom is “the principal thing” – the Principal Principle and fundamental Pillar of Life (Pro.4:7). Access to Wisdom is the greatest Asset in life and destiny! A wise man knows the way, leads, and is a Solution. Wisdom helps you to simplify issues and concentrate your energies on the things that matter. Many have energy (faith), but no productivity; ability, but no direction of wisdom. Wisdom is profitable to direct (Eccl.10:10b). The value of Wisdom is unfathomable. It is God’s creative tool and reigning instrument (Pro.3:19; 4: 1-9). Wisdom says, “By Me kings reign, and princes decree justice” (Pro.8:15). No king can reign successfully without wisdom! Wisdom is the avenue to prudence, “witty inventions,” durable riches, honour, and righteousness (Pro. 8:11-12, 18-21). As you listen to Wisdom, “watching daily” at her gates; as you give prominence to this Principal Principle, you will be promoted to places of Distinction and enthroned in Dominion in life and destiny!
