THE WITNESS OF KINDNESS

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus – Ephesians 2:7

“In fact, one of the most significant and impressive signs of Christian faith is kindness. We don’t need to be thoughtless or arrogant or rude or harsh or preoccupied or hateful. We can choose to be kind. You see, we may master church history, speak high-sounding theological phrases, quote the great philosophers, even commit to memory large blocks of Scripture, but only when we show people genuine kindness do they really begin to see our faith

If you want to be an effective witness for God, if you want to show forth the Spirit of Christ, if you want to help your church, then be a kind person; be kind to everyone you meet.

Some people never learn that. They go through life pushing and shoving and grabbing, thinking only of themselves, only of what they want. They seem never to realize how much that attitude turns people off and drives them away…

How important it is that we in the church learn to cultivate the attitude of kindness! Our kindness may be the only sermon some person out there will ever hear. The Christian is kind. We are called to imitate the kindness of our Lord…

We can be kind if we choose to be, and if Christ is really in us, we will be!
