WONDERS OF DIVINE HEALTH

“For they are life to those who find them, and HEALTH to all their flesh” – Proverbs 4:22

GOD’S WORD is loaded with WONDERS of DIVINE HEALTH: “My son, give attention to my WORDS; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and HEALTH to all their flesh” (Pro.4:20-22). Here, the word “health” is translated from the Hebrew word “marpe” which means medicine, healing or remedy. Divine or Covenant Health is an integral part of the Christian life, being the bedrock for enjoying every other blessing from God. John the Beloved wrote God’s Mind: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in HEALTH, just as your soul prospers” (3Jh.2). David also sang: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who HEALS all your diseases” (Psa.103:3).

Divine Health is part of our Kingdom Inheritance. God assured His people, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I AM the LORD WHO HEALS YOU” (Exo.15:26). His Covenant Name is Jehovah-Rapha. Isaiah revealed long before the Messiah was crucified, that Healing is in the Atonement: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes WE ARE HEALED (Isa.53:5). Peter confirms this: “Who Himself bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes YOU WERE HEALED” (1Pet.2:24).

Divine Health is an active expression of abundant Life (Jh.10:10b). It is being completely fit and flourishing in experiencing and enjoying the full benefits of the Divine Nature: “By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2Pet.1:4). In essence, Divine Health flows from the Divine Nature. It is an all-inclusive, three-pronged asset that expresses a person’s total well-being: spiritual, mental, and physical.

Disease, illness and ill-health were never meant to be the Believer’s lot. Eternal Life in Christ is not susceptible to sickness or disease. The indestructible life of God in the Believer can exercise Dominion over all diseases. Divine Health is the nature of the New Creation in Christ, with which we were born at the New Birth. However, due to ignorance, unbelief or lack of revelation, some Believers still live below their covenant rights; hence, God gives them the opportunity to trust Him for Healing when they’re sick. At a higher level, we can declare, “Divine Health is mine.” Our Faith and prophetic Grace can guarantee Divine Health. We can use our faith to receive healing and enjoy divine health.

An even higher level is, where we don’t get sick at all. God said concerning the citizens of Zion: “And the inhabitant will not say, “I am sick”; the people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity” (Isa.33:24). Zero-disease is the ideal for the Dwellers in Zion; in the new Covenant, those who are born again (Heb.12:22). We live in Zion; we’re at home in Christ, where sickness is illegal and alien. We operate in the realm of Divine Life in every fibre of our being, cell of our body – from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, and every bone of our being.

Despite all of these, a unique Wonder of Divine Health is that God relates to us according to our Faith. He doesn’t condemn or discriminate. He is ultimately interested in our well-being. We need not feel condemned for taking prescribed medication to treat an ailment. However, God’s Word is the best medicine, far more potent than any herb, leaf, or drug. His Word is medicine to our flesh. Let’s find and load it in!
