Isaiah 66: 1-13

Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool” – Isaiah 66:1a

Humanity bows before the WONDERS of GOD’S STATURE: Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?” (Isa.66:1). God is asking: “What human house can contain my Immensity?” Imagine: Heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool! Ironically, this Great and Mighty God humbled Himself to reside in a woman’s womb, and has chosen the hearts of men as His Temple! The vastness of the universe – the beaches, oceans, deserts, rivers, seas, mountains, and skies – makes us think about God’s Immensity in our lives.

We often use certain big words to talk about God: Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient; all-powerful, all-present, and all-knowing. All of these express the upper limit of our ability to comprehend God’s greatness, power, and wisdom within the constraints of time and space. However, when the busy-ness of each day fills our moments, it can be hard to remember the wonders of God’s Stature. God tells us over and over throughout His Word how Big He is. Some scriptures illustrate the immeasurable size of our awesome God. Here are few of such Faith-reviving scriptures of the Immensity of God’s Stature:

God is Transcendent: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isa.55:8-9). God’s nature and plan are far beyond human understanding. He is markedly different from us in His thoughts and ways. God thinks about our lives, our world, and His creation on a completely different and infinitely higher level than the smartest human mind can think. The Almighty God is Supreme, Unequalled, and Unmatched. His transcendence places Him beyond the limits of time and space. Yet, we can ask Him questions and pray that He points us to something we can understand.

God’s fingers made the heavens: “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” (Psa.8:3-4). Imagine God’s Immensity if it took just His fingers to make and position the heavens and all celestial bodies. The finger of God symbolizes His power: Pharaoh’s magicians attributed the third plague to the finger of God (Exo.8:19); His finger wrote the Law on stone tablets (Exo.31:8; Dt.9:10); and in the New Testament, Jesus cast out demons by the finger of God (Lk.11:20).

God asked His prophet: “Am I a God near at hand,” says the Lord, “And not a God afar off? Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him?” says the Lord; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord" (Jer.23: 23-24). God is everywhere; not in one place only. No one can hide where He cannot see them. He can see through the darkest and thickest clouds into the very bowels of the earth and deepest recesses and secret caverns. His essence is so infinite it cannot be locked in, limited to, and bounded by time, space and place: Solomon pondered: “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!(1Kgs.8:27).

Despite His Immense Stature and Greatness, God is detailed enough to number the hairs of our heads: “Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, you are of more value than many sparrows” (Lk.12:7). He is close and familiar enough with each of us to separate one hair from another and number each! Dale C. Allison Jr. says, “Throughout the Scriptures God is held up as one who can count the humanly uncountable: clouds, sand, streams, the length of heaven, stars…” How big is My God? As Big as I perceive and believe Him to be! God is the Most High – the higher than the highest!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
