1 Corinthians 2: 6-16

But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God  1 Corinthians 2:10

It takes Divine Illumination by the Spirit of God to access and contact the WONDERS IN GOD’S WORD: But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God (1 Cor.2:10). The preceding verse says: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (v.9). The Word of God is not revealed to the natural man, for it is foolishness to him (v.14). The Wonders in God’s Word include His creative and redemptive acts, such as the signs and wonders displayed against Egypt, supernatural provision during the wilderness journey, and redemptive acts in Christ.

God’s wonders can only be rightly seen as displays of His Kingdom Power when He opens our eyes. The most frequent physical miracle Jesus performed was opening blind eyes. In one case He touched a blind man who exclaimed, "I see men like trees, walking" (Mk 8:24). He saw something, but couldn’t quite discern what it was. So, Jesus touched him again: “And he was restored and saw everyone clearly” (Mk.8:25). His perception was cleared, his limitations removed, set free to become who God called him to be! Without God touching our vision, we'll stumble through life, blind to who God is, what He can do, who we are in Christ, and what we can do in His strength (Gal.4:13).

In Psalm 119:19 the psalmist pleaded: “I am a stranger in the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me.” Sensitive Believers are conscious of their pilgrim status on earth. We are strangers on earth, in need of guidance. Apart from divine illumination by the Creator, we will not understand the world that we are wading through. Most trips require a map or guide. As we travel through life, the Bible is our authentic road map, pointing out safe routes, obstacles to avoid, and our final destination. We must recognize ourselves as pilgrims who need to study God's map to learn the way. His Word will guide us to and cheer us along our heavenly journey. We ignore it to our own peril!

William Wilberforce (1759-1833) was an astute debater, shrewd politician, and popular socialite. At 21, he became a Member of Parliament in England. It was a time of dire moral and spiritual decline. The rich were making a mockery of marriage, the poor were oppressed, and the slave trade was booming. Initially, Wilberforce went along with these evils, thinking only of his personal ambitions. But at age 25, he travelled to France with one of his former teachers, Isaac Milner. During this trip, Wilberforce read and studied the Bible with Milner. Before long he surrendered his life to Christ and was transformed. The parties he once enjoyed now seemed indecent. The plight of the poor now concerned him and he soon became the leader in the battle against slavery, which was abolished in England in 1833; primarily due to his efforts.

God’s Word is our life’s map. We ignore it to our own peril! God has packaged a vast array of wonders in His Word, but we cannot see them if we’re spiritually blind. In the case of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, it was only after Jesus had walked with them for 7 miles, explaining scriptures to them, that "their eyes were opened and they knew Him" (Lk 24:31a). God often reveals Himself to us, not in cathedrals and conferences, but by opening our understanding to His Word. We begin to see Him at work in ways we never have before.

God’s Word is loaded with Gems! If every believing minister, scientist, economist, leader, and parent will sustain a spiritual posture and mental attitude that daily prays “Lord, open my eyes that I may see,” we will be greatly impactful for God’s Kingdom in our locations and generations! As the Bible leaves divine marks on our lives, we’ll leave enduring marks on our world!

Lord, by divine illumination through Your Spirit into the WONDERS IN YOUR WORD, cause us to leave enduring marks in our world, in Jesus’ name.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
