Bible Meditation:
Psalm 139: 1-18

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and WONDERFULLY MADE; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well” Psalm 139:14

God is worthy to be praised for the WONDERS of OUR MAKING: I will praise You, for I am fearfully and WONDERFULLY MADE; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well” (Psa.139:14). Psalm 139 reflects David’s prayerful meditation of God’s omnipresence and omniscience, and the effect those divine characteristics have on the human heart. God is omnipresent – everywhere, simultaneously. He is all-knowing; unlimited in knowledge. We’ve been created by God, purposefully, to glorify Him. He knows us intimately better than we know ourselves! Moreover, the Knowledge of God directly affects our responses to hardship, injustice, or pain.

David’s heartfelt journey with God, through the good, bad, and challenging, remains alive and relatable even in our lives. This psalm sings the omniscience and omnipresence of God. Who God is, allows us to understand who and Whose, we are. Life within the love of Christ Jesus – Immanuel, God with us – changes our hearts forever and continually until we arrive home in heaven. The journey of each human heart is unique, purposed, and intimately known by the One True God.

Here are four lessons from Psalm 139 to strengthen our hearts:

We Are Never Alone: “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” (v.7, NIV). We must not fall for Satan’s trick and deceit of isolation, especially in today’s world of masks and quarantine! But even when others’ physical presence is absent from our lives, we are never alone. God is always and forever with us. He is impossible to escape from.

We Are Intimately Known: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (v.13, NIV). Here, we see ourselves and others through God’s perspective. Before we were known to our mothers, God was forming every intricate detail and fabric of who we are, crafting us personally and purposefully. Nothing about us is accidental. Every cell of our being is intentional. Every true mother has experienced love on another level – maternal. Yet, they only carried their babies into this world. God gave them life and loves them infinitely more. We are intimately known by Him, inwardly and outwardly. All our thoughts and actions are open before Him. He knows our words before we utter them. He’s numbered our days. Being intimately known by our sovereign God means we are not hidden, and should not be subject to guilt or shame. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross negated the shame which compelled Adam and Eve to hide from God in the Garden of Eden.

We Are Purposefully Made: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (v.14, NIV). We were made with purpose, to bring glory to God. Each talent, gift, and occupation has a place in the workforce of His Kingdom. Wonderfully means “to be distinct, marked out, be separated, be distinguished.” We aren’t made wonderful in the eyes of world, but from the heart of God, to bring glory to His name. We have each been intentionally set apart for His Glory, distinct from the world.

God Is in Control: “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (v.16, NIV). There is infinitely more happening in the world and our lives than we can plausibly see. But God’s view transcends time and space. He has numbered our days, and nothing can alter His good plan for our lives. His will trumps what we want. It’s hard to that comprehend God is in control of a world spinning off its rails; with so much violence, inhumanity, injustice, unfairness, tragedy and heartbreak. Even devout disciples gaze up to wonder where God is during tumultuous seasons. Yet, He is in control. Nothing in the universe is random without divine design and purpose.

Though Author and Creator of the entire universe, and each of us, God is personally in touch with every single one of our lives! He cares deeply and compassionately for us, as a whole and individually.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
