THE WORD IS WISDOM

And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to MAKE YOU WISE for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus – 2 Timothy 3:15

What is Divine Wisdom? The Word of God is Wisdom; and Wisdom is in the Word! Wisdom is for you to know what to do and which way to go, in line with the Scriptures, and to act accordingly in order to get the desired results. Wisdom is to know the scriptural way to go, the scriptural steps to take, and the scriptural things to do. The blessed person is one who makes the effort to know, believe, confess, meditate on, and do what the scriptures command: “his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law he meditates day and night” (Psa.1:2).

Paul testified concerning Timothy: “that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2Tim.3: 15). It is the Word that makes you wise. Wisdom is the applied knowledge of the truths gleaned from the Word of God. It is making use of the Word of God to produce profits in all areas of life. Wisdom Is not mere common sense; it is scriptural sense. Wisdom is not mere mental exertion or display of erudition, accumulation of facts or knowledge; but it is actually doing the sayings of God.

Wisdom is particularly vital in the perilous times of these last days than ever before. We are in dangerous times, when the thoughts and actions of much of humanity are at variance with scriptural injunctions: “For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2Tim.3:2-4). These are traits of fleshly foolishness and rebellion against righteousness, the very opposites of wisdom!

Beloved, wisdom will shield you from the pervading climate of corruption, preserve you from the perils of the times, and establish your feet on the paths of the truth, right behaviour, purposeful living, faithful service, perseverance and patience. Wisdom will lift you above all evil and seductive influences, perversions, and deception (2Tim.3:10-13). The Wisdom of scriptures will make you “complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (vs.17). God for Wisdom and embrace her!
