Bible Meditation:
John 6: 47- 70

Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the WORDS of ETERNAL LIFE” John 6:68b

By the Unction of the Holy Spirit, March 2021 is our Month of the WORDS OF ETERNAL LIFE: “But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the WORDS of ETERNAL LIFE” (Jh.6:68). Our Lord Jesus Christ had revealed in earlier verses: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting LIFE. I am the BREAD of LIFE” (vv.47-48). He went further: “As the living father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down from heaven – not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever” (vv.57-58).  In verse 63, Jesus declared: “It is the Spirit who gives LIFE; the flesh profits nothing. The WORD that I speak to you are spirit, and they are LIFE” (Jh.6:63). The Words of Jesus are Spirit and Life!

The Word of God is essentially the Word of Life! Paul admonished Believers: Holding fast the WORD of LIFE, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain” (Phi. 2:16). The Father’s Desire is for us to be willing to listen to His Voice and to trust His Word, knowing that He alone has the Words of eternal Life! It is in listening to and hearing God’s Word that we truly LIVE: “Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall LIVE; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you – the sure mercies of David” (Isa.55:3).

Earlier in His ministry many of His followers recognised Jesus as the Messiah who had come from God to save His people, and to set up His promised earthly kingdom. However, as time elapsed and with more challenging teachings about His impending death and the command to eat His flesh and drink of His blood, which many did not understand, most of His followers turned and walked away (v.60-66). It was in this period of rising uncertainty that the Lord Jesus asked the twelve: “Will you also go away?” (v.67). Simon Peter replied: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (v.68). Peter was right: there is nowhere else to go and nothing else that can satisfy the heart that is separated from God, by sin.

To the unbeliever, faith in Christ is the only way to reach God; trusting in Christ as Saviour is the only path to forgiveness of sin and the only key into His heavenly home. Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is the only road to righteousness. But the challenge to every Christian comes when life throws trials in our path; when things happen that we simply do not understand or when God’s Word seems to conflict with our human perception or perspective. We are called to trust God’s Word in all things – for His Word is Life, Health, Comfort, Strength, Peace, and Hope – He alone has the Words of Eternal Life!

God commanded the apostles after they were supernaturally released from prison: “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people ALL the WORDS of this LIFE” (Acts 5:20). That’s the same instruction we shall follow for the Capstone Capsules devotional this new month. By God’s Grace, we shall meditate on “ALL the WORDS of this LIFE” – we trust the Lord to usher us from day-to-day, into the revelation and realities of the full dimensions of the Words of Eternal Life! May we never have cause or reasons to abandon our Saviour and Lord or His Words of Eternal Life, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
