“Being predestinated according to the PURPOSE of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will” – Ephesians 1:11b

T. D. Jakes’s “Destiny – Step into Your Purpose” aptly captures the theme of IMPACT in DESTINY: “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the PURPOSE of Hin who works all things according to the counsel of His will” (Eph.1:11). God-glorifying Impact derives from discovering and fulfilling one’s purpose, leading to a life of meaning and significance. This demands self-discovery, positive action, and resilience to overcome challenges such as doubt and fear. The biblical basis for this perspective is that God has a preordained plan and destiny for each of us, which is fulfilled through faith, as we align our actions with His Will. His ultimate Will is to conform Believers to the Image of His Son, for a Life of Glory.

Building on his previous work “Instinct”, Jakes explores how innate instinct is the first step to discovering and stepping into God’s ordained destiny: Instinct plus Purpose equals Destiny! Instinct must merge with purpose to produce a life that fulfills destiny. We cannot allow the conditions in our lives to distract us from the meaning of our lives! Instinct is that inherent aptitude or capacity to use our emergent God-given gifts effectively at the appointed time and place. It’s the urging inside us to make our move now, to reach out now, to hold back until later, or to never give up. The gift or desire that God has wired each of us to express is unique to individuals. That’s Instinct! Destiny is the push of our instincts to the pull of our purpose.

How I was wired is Instinct. Destiny reveals Why I was wired. As we follow the instinctive path of our passion molded into action, we connect to Destiny. All gifts must be given a place of expression in order for Destiny to unfold. We are most effective when we yield to the allure of destiny! Every gifted person needs a place to engage the gifts that are rooted within. No matter how gifted one is, it’s crucial to have a place of expression. That place is Destiny! However, we must move from INTENTION to INCEPTION. One who never gets off his intentions may not see life’s vision become reality.

Using personal stories, scriptural principles, and motivational counsel, we’re guided on how to navigate and overcome life's challenges and obstacles, pains, and even "shortcuts" that can lead one astray from the true path, reset our internal “compass,” and pursue our unique destiny with courage and faith. Failures and setbacks are not dead ends; they are reframed as valuable lessons and catalysts for personal growth, authentic self-identity, greater exposure, and fulfillment of divine role. We each have a preordained destiny or purpose that directs us toward out highest calling, contentment, and maximized Impact!
