WHAT IS THE WINNING WISDOM?

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy – James 3:17

What we do not define, we may not find! It could be fatal to assume that the word “wisdom” means the same thing to everyone everywhere. The Bible in the third chapter of James’ epistle makes distinctions between different kinds of wisdom, namely: the earthly wisdom, the sensual, devilish, and divine wisdom or wisdom from above (Jam.3:15-17). The scriptures support the notion of these different definitions of wisdom (1Cor.2:6).

Earthly wisdom is “the wisdom of this world”, natural wisdom or common sense. Sensual wisdom is human wisdom, which is basically intellectual wisdom or ‘book knowledge’ which centres on the senses. It includes all human quests for intellectual, scientific, and technological knowledge and application (1Cor.2:6). Devilish, satanic or diabolical wisdom – “the wisdom…of the princes of this world, which come to nought” – refers to the wisdom of the occult realm and of dark, negative spirituality. This often involves the manipulation of the human mind through occultism and satanic influences.

Divine Wisdom is God’s Winning Wisdom, the wisdom “that is from above”. All the wisdom of this world and devilish wisdom equate zero when compared with the inexhaustible virtues of divine wisdom. Unlike in occultism and mysticism where there are hierarchies of knowledge, and actions shrouded in mysteries, salvation is the basic access to the wisdom of God. Every born again child of God is potentially entitled to be a partaker of divine wisdom, but must seek it passionately.

Divine wisdom is characterized by qualities of being pure, peaceable, gentle, submissive, mercy-full, fruitful, impartial, and honest. This is the Winning Wisdom that would make you a Wonder to your world and a Commander in your generation.
