TRUST IN GOD’S POWER

THE LORD REIGNS, He is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure – Psalm 93:1 (NIV).

Psalm 93 opens with the declaration: “The Lord reigns.” God sits as Sovereign on His throne and rules all things perfectly. The Psalm uses the imagery of an exalted King in all his splendour to portray God’s majesty on His throne. Then it describes an angry rebellion of floods. The Psalmist appears to be reporting the floods to the Lord. The ‘floods’ represent either rampaging rivers, or surging, seething oceans that roar with mighty waves booming and pounding on shore. High above the crashing beat of these destructive waters however, far more powerful than they, God sits and reigns on His established throne. He is the unmoveable Mover of all things – the Unchanging Changer!

These tumultuous waters represent the sum of all the rebellious forces assailing and assaulting the world today – natural, human, and demonic. Their destructive power sometimes seems to be completely out of control. The oppressive floods lifted up two things: their VOICE to infuse FEAR; and their WAVES to crush the destinies of the fearful! As God’s children however, we need not live in fear of the forces of evil, because “the Lord is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea” (vs.4). Our powerful, reigning King is Lord over every storm. He stills the storms and tames the tempests!

Do you feel overwhelmed by trials and troubles? Trusting in God’s Power prevents Panic and perfects Peace: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You” (Isa.26:3 NIV). Fix your heart and mind on the Lord. Ask for His help and trust Him. Those who know the Lord through personal faith in Christ have in Him a calm retreat, a Shelter in the storms of life. Even while the howling winds of trials are sweeping through, you can experience peace of mind and calmness of spirit. The holy and powerful Lord reigns! His testimonies are trustworthy!
