ANGELS ON ASSIGNMENT

Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word– Psalm 103:20

“For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways…” (Psa.91:11). A charge is a strict command; an assignment. One of God’s techniques for protecting His beloved is to place us under the guardianship of His charged angels. Interestingly, the words in verses 11 - 13 of Psalm 91 were among those employed by Satan to tempt Jesus in the desert. Expectedly, Satan left out the key qualifier, "...to keep you in all your ways," because this negates his destructive design. Satan would not want you to travel and prosper on the path God has set before you, but he has failed in Jesus name.

Angels are the messengers of God; always in His presence, beholding His glory, even while they are discharging their duties or delivering His messages. Angels never lose contact with the Almighty. They are always seeking to fulfil the will of the Creator. Angels are sent forth as our ministering spirits, to minister to and for us who are the heirs of salvation (Heb.1:14). They watch carefully over all the interests of the faithful. The angel of the Lord ministered to Gideon (Jud.6:-11-22). The angel of the Lord smote one hundred and eighty five thousand Assyrian soldiers (2Kgs19:35). An angel ministered to Elijah to strengthen him for ministry (1Kgs.19:5-7). Angels also ministered to Jesus after the temptation (Mt.4:11).

God has instructed His angels to walk the path with us as His church and as individual believers. That the angels bear us up in their arms portrays a sense of care and affection similar to one lifting up a child from harm. He has instructed His angels to keep us from figuratively “dashing of our foot against a stone.” This suggests a further measure of His protection from temptation and danger, including shielding us from stumbling into sin or sliding into depression or distress. Instead, He empowers us to tread upon the lion and the cobra, which are substitute names of Satan. When you abide under God's protection, His angels will be available to help you to disrupt and destroy the works of the evil one.

Like a child in the safe arms of the mother, the angels have been given instruction to take care of you, to secure your life from danger, and to ensure your utmost comfort. God has assigned His angels to you for your upkeep, but to what extent do you keep them busy? God commissioned your comfort into their hands and they have no option but to obey totally: “Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word” (Psa.103:20). God’s angels obey only the “voice of His Word”! Therefore, for you to enjoy perpetual angelic assistance, you must learn to give Voice to God’s Word! Don’t let the devil shut your lips. Learn to proclaim the prophetic Word of God at all times and seasons. By the Word of the Lord, His angels have been charged to keep you in all your ways.
