CHANGE AS RISK

Bible Meditation:
Joshua 1:1-18

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success – Joshua 1:8

We make changes and take risks all our lives – taking the first baby steps, going off to boarding school, driving on the highway, starting a relationship, switching careers, moving to new jobs, investing in the stock market, or competing for an election. Change is an inherent part of living. Anyone who is not making changes and taking risks in some aspect of life is probably in a cul-de-sac.

God had to groom Joshua for change – the high-risk change of getting into the shoes of Moses! He needed a fresh injection of strength and courage to face the challenges of change and lead Israel into conquest. For Joshua, God’s recommended Source of Strength and Agency of Courage was His WORD (Jos.1:0). Mediating, confessing, and acting on the Word of God remain the winning secrets for anyone in need of the Divine Change that guarantees Good Success and Prosperity.

Many want a change in their conditions but are not willing to go through the process to get what they want out of life. At some point, each of us will be faced with one major life change or the other, an event that alters our life in such a way that we are radically transformed. These may include marriage, moving, pregnancy, birth, parenting, promotion, demotion, career change, relational crisis, health challenge, surgery, retirement, becoming empty nest, aging, and loss of a loved one.

These can have both positive and negative effects, but that is part of the process of growing. In the long run the benefits of embracing change will be evident. Accept change to the extent that it aligns with God’s Word. Welcome new opportunities that present themselves. Be willing to change to master change! You cannot make an omelet without breaking eggs.

Every elevation and promotion is a call to change, a call to new and often higher responsibilities. The risks of divine change are well worth the results and rewards. Anytime you want to stretch and grow, you are going to have to make changes and take risks. Change is part of life, and risk is part of the change process.

Prayer:
Lord, as I go through life’s changes, ground me in Your Word; let the rewards overshadow the risks, in Jesus’ Name.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
