COVENANT OF MULTIPLICATION

And I will make MY COVENANT between Me and you, and will MULTIPLY you exceedingly – Genesis 17:2

The Almighty God is the most effective Entrepreneur, Farmer, and Multiplier in the Universe. He told Man at the beginning: Be fruitful and MULTIPLY (Gen.1:28). Multiplication means to reproduce something many times its original number. Multiplication is a Must in God’s scheme of creation. He turns tiny seeds into massive harvests. When He strikes a Covenant of Multiplication with a Person, Family, or group of people, His creative power produces multiplier effects, which often lead to geometric, rather than arithmetical progression.

God’s covenant with Abraham had a Multiplication dimension. He illustrated this in both terrestrial and celestial terms. First, the terrestrial: And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered (Gen.13:16). Second, the celestial: Then He brought him outside and said “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able you number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be” (Gen.15:5). God multiplied Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants; and gave them the bounties of the Promised Land.

God deals in Covenant-details. The covenant conditions for Multiplication include the Attitudes of Giving, Gratitude, Praise, and Thanksgiving: Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry; I WILL MULTIPLY them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small (Jer. 30:19). Psalm 67:6 also says: Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us. Gratitude invites Glory. Praise provokes Increase. Multiplication answers to thanksgiving. Every blessing multiplies at the instance of thanksgiving.

Jesus was able to multiply five loaves and two fishes as they were released by the lad. Specifically, He ignited the Covenant of Multiplication by giving thanks, thus creating an atmosphere of miracles, even in a desert place (Mt.14:17-21; Jh.6:11). To be thankful is to be fruitful. To be thankless is to be fruitless! To engage the Covenant of Multiplication, you must be willing to give and to be a blessing to others. Jesus engaged the Covenant and it worked despite the location and time constraints. When you make up your mind to be a blessing, you initiate the same covenant, and it would work, irrespective of situations.
