Bible Meditation:
Psalm 140: 1-13

O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have COVERED MY HEAD IN THE DAY OF BATTLE – Psalm 140:7

Today, the Holy Spirit desires that we meditate on what it means for our heads to be COVERED IN THE DAY OF BATTLE:O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle” (Psa.140:7). David was a man of war, incessantly bombarded by enemies, sometimes from his own household. But he had learnt to always flee to the Lord for help. He understood that the battle is the Lord’s! This is a psalm of deliverance from evil entities, and there are many of such in the world today – diabolical human beings and their demonic agents who are engaged in sophisticated wickedness! It is therefore important for us to understand as David did, that the battle is still the Lord's.

In affirming that “You have covered my head in the day of battle,” David was revealing that his very life was kept safe by the Lord. We do not have to take the full weight of life upon our shoulders; God is there to cover our head even as He covered David's. The head is one of the most vulnerable parts of the body to traumatic injury. Injuries to the skull were quite prevalent in the ancient times, when a blow to the head during a battle could easily be fatal. So when David said that God covered his head, he meant that God protected his life and destiny.

In the Book of Ephesians, the helmet of salvation is listed as a part of the critical armour for believers: “and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Eph. 6:17). No Roman soldier would consider going into battle without his helmet. With it, the solider could fight with a certain amount of confidence. This is what the spiritual helmet of salvation does for believers today; it gives us confidence to press ahead in life’s battles and particularly the battle for the souls of humanity. The helmet of salvation protects our minds both inside the church from the invasion of false doctrines and rationalistic philosophies and outside the church from intellectual surrender to atheistic arguments.

The helmet of salvation also gives the assurance of salvation, confidence in God amidst the devil’s attacks on our minds, as he tries to pound us with discouragement and doubt by pointing out our faults and failures. But, we do not receive salvation by merit. It is not earned or deserved, but freely given to us by grace through faith (Eph.2:8). Ask for the helmet of salvation from the Giver of Life, and you’ll receive by faith. It is yours for the taking!

David was confident that he could place all his cares on God and He will lift him up. What a joy to know that we can turn to God, cry out to Him, throw all our burdens on Him and He will receive us, hear us and respond to our needs. It is almost unfathomable to balance the greatness and majesty of God with the realisation that He personally loves us and cares for us. He is our Refuge and our Strong Tower in the battles of life. God is able to do abundantly beyond all we can ask or think through the power of His Spirit working in us (Eph.3:20). We are strong in Him when we are weak in ourselves. Whatever temptations or trials we face in life, we can turn to God in total confidence that we will overcome in His mighty power.

Verses 12 and 13 summarize the Psalm: I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the needy. Surely the righteous shall GIVE THANKS to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your PRESENCE. The Secrets of Divine Covering is to continually give thanks to the name of the Lord and live in His presence perpetually! The Lord will sustain your cause. He's not too busy to help you. He will never let you down. He will cover your head from all enemies!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
