DIVINE PRODUCTIVITY (8)

“Do you see a man excel in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men” – Proverbs 22:29

Diligence is the vehicle that conveys the Grace for DIVINE PRODUCTIVITY from the pathway to the Palace: “Do you see a man excel in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men” (Pro.22:29). Our devotional text is a collection of words of wisdom designed to impart “excellent things of counsels and knowledge” (v.20). The aim is for the Believer’s trust to be firmly rooted in the Lord (v.19). It highlights the certainty of truth and the necessity of handling responsibilities with absolute integrity – whether it is defending the poor or respecting ancient boundaries. The climax introduces the profound spiritual law: divine performance does not reward laziness.

True wisdom requires more than just listening; it demands internalizing truth, actively storing it in the heart to guide our speech and build our trust in God: “Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge; for it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you...” (vv.17-19). Verses 22-23 warn against taking advantage of the vulnerable, as this invites divine justice. True diligence operates ethically even when no one is watching, God being the ultimate Judge. Verses 24-25 warn against companionship with the angry, lest we learn their destructive habits and be entrapped in their patterns. Verses 26 and 27 focus on exercising financial caution by avoiding risky financial obligations such as co-signing loans or guaranteeing the debts of others, which can cost one everything.

Verses 28-29 demand honouring the heritage and legal property lines set by previous generations, and committing to high-quality work, which brings honour and recognition before leaders. The word "excel" (or "diligent" in other translations) implies speed, skill, readiness, and meticulous care. Holy Spirit-inspired diligence refines one’s character and skill set to such a degree that elevation becomes inevitable. It shifts a Believer from the periphery of obscurity among “unknown men” to the centre stage of influence, on palace corridors with “kings.” In essence, God cannot bless an empty hand. We are called to refine our craft and develop mastery in whatever our hands find to do.

Diligence connects God’s promises of performance to real experiences of promotion. Lazy hands beg from men; skilful, diligent hands are beckoned by kings! When we do not work merely for survival, but with the mindset that our current assignment is a preparation room for a palace invitation, then, we are candidates for superstructural elevation.

I am anointed with the spirit of diligence and excellence. My hands are trained for mastery, and my mind is sharp with divine creativity.

Grace for Divine Performance eliminates sluggishness and procrastination from my life, liberating me from the circle of average living.

Laziness, fatigue, and distractions have no right over my career and calling. All of my labour is vindicated with full reward for diligence.

I will not labour in obscurity. My work will command global attention, recognition, and respect, and I will step into supernatural prominence.

I am a solution provider. Kings shall seek the counsel of God within me. Gates of high influence and palace dimensions shall open to me.
