FULL SUPPLY

And my God shall SUPPLY ALL your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus – Philippians 4:19

In Christ is the FULLNESS of SUPPLY of all I’ll ever need in the present life and hereafter! I have not only the fullness of forgiveness flowing by His precious blood, and the fullness of acceptance through His perfect obedience, but also the fullness of supply: the supply of every grace which my soul can need or experience in time and eternity. As I am brought into the sweet enjoyment of His pardoning mercy and justifying grace, I gradually learn to know how these are mine, and how I am kept in the spiritual possession of them. I begin to enjoy them unceasingly, as it is written: “The Father loves the Son, and has given ALL things into His hand. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life…” (Jh. 3:35-36a). In Christ, there is an unending Supply of the Spirit: “For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the SUPPLY of the Spirit of Jesus Christ” (Phi.1:19). There is a ceaseless supply of Strength and of Sanctifying and Satisfying Grace all through life!

Ephesians 3:16-17a, “That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith…”! Christ dwells in my heart through faith, therefore, of His Fullness have I received – still by faith, not by feelings, signs or sensations! I was forgiven by faith, justified by faith, saved by faith, declared righteous by faith, and receiving the supply of the Spirit, by faith! I rejoice in this reality: that my salvation and justification do not depend on my knowledge of Him as much as His knowledge: “By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities” (Isa.53:11). It is His knowledge of us which secures our justification and salvation. This is clearly established in His Word: “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law…” (Gal. 2:16).

This is the faith of the Righteous One. John testified of this great and glorious One: “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace” (Jh.1:16). He ushers us into receiving those spiritual blessings which the Father had entrusted to His care against the set time of favour; blessings to meet our needs when Satan assaults, when the world persecutes, when sins and fears oppress, when the flesh and heart tend to fail, and when we might feel that we had nothing to do but take one step more to fall into temptation. But in all, we overcome, because of the fullness of grace and glory reserved in Christ to counter our case. What a vast spectrum of the fullness of Christ we His people enjoy: the fullness of grace, forgiveness, pardon, justification, faith, hope, and glory!

Jesus Christ is my Daysman, my Umpire, the only One who can open His mouth in defence of the speechless, “in the cause of all who are appointed to die” (Prov. 31:8). He is the Intercessor for transgressors (Isa. 53:12). He is the all-powerful Advocate for sinful children (1 Jh. 2:1) He is the Great High Priest before my God, who bears my name upon His breast-plate of judgment, and also the iniquity of my holy things, as He appears with His priestly crown, that I may be accepted before the Lord (Exo. 28:38) In Him there is a glorious fullness that wipes off all sin and put all guilt put away; in Him, every question of sin is forever settled; my person is accepted, my needs are supplied, my enemies are defeated, and my heaven is assured.
