GOD OF KNOWLEDGE (1)

“For the Lord is THE GOD of KNOWLEDGE; and by Him actions are weighed” – 1 Samuel 2:3b

The Light of Knowledge is sourced only from the GOD of KNOWLEDGE: “For the Lord is the GOD of KNOWLEDGE; and by Him actions are weighed” (1Sam.2:3b). “God of knowledge” is one of God’s descriptive names, which singles knowledge out from all His attributes. Unlike humans, God is not limited in His Knowledge; He is all-knowing – “omniscient”! In today’s text, Hannah’s Praise Prayer exalted the Lord, as she took her miraculous son, Samuel, to serve in the temple. She declared several of His attributes and shouted at her enemies not to boast, because the Lord is “El de’ot’. He knows everything His enemies do and will punish them. He is “perfect in knowledge” (Job 37:16).

Scriptures confirm that God wants to be known. He wants us to study Him, know more about Him, and truly KNOW HIM. Ironically, the more we study God, the more we know our knowledge of Him is imperfect. Let’s think about it. It is impossible to fully understand One Who knows everything. He doesn't need to learn or figure things out. He doesn't get caught by surprise. He has Perfect Knowledge of Man: “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether…Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it" (Psa.139: 1-4, 6). God knows even thoughts and intentions!

Not only is God’s Knowledge PERFECT, it is INFINITE. There is NO LIMIT to His Knowledge: “Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His Understanding is INFINITE” (Psa.147:5). The human mind can hardly grasp the concept of “Infinite knowledge”! Let’s think about the fact that what God knows, He has known from eternity. His knowledge is beyond measure. The apostle Paul declared, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” (Rom.11:33).

The God of Perfect and Infinite Knowledge has no teacher, instructor, or professor. There is no knowledge that someone else has that needs to be taught to God: “Can anyone teach God knowledge, since He judges those on high?" (Job 21:22). Paul stated the same truth. "For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who became his counselor?" (Rom.11:34). If God can't be taught, neither does He have to Google, research or investigate anything. What does the reality of the God of Knowledge mean to us personally, in our location, in the here and now?

God knows all that’s been, is, and would be. The God of Perfect, Infinite Knowledge of the Past, Present, and Future is our Trustworthy and Faithful Father, whose Purposes shall stand (Isa.46:10).
