Bible Meditation:
Ephesians 1: 1-14

“Having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who WORKS ALL THINGS in accordance with the plan of His will” – Ephesians 1: 11b

In order to understand the Works of God, we be established on the Truth that GOD WORKS: In Him we also have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who WORKS ALL THINGS in accordance with the plan of His will” (Eph.1:11). Someone described God as “the most essential worker of all”! The phrase “essential worker” became part of everyday vernacular during the COVID-19 pandemic. These are people who worked to keep society running while the generality of the populace was in different phases of sheltering in place. They include: health care workers, emergency responders, police, firefighters, transportation, food producers and suppliers, energy, and social services. In normal days, we take such people for granted, but the significance of their roles becomes apparent during time of crisis.

We should be thankful for the essential workers in our various societies. However, God is the Ultimate Essential Worker: I will raise my eyes to the mountains; from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth” (Psa.121:1-2). It is to the Lord alone that we can turn when everything seems shaken inside out and upside down, and when life becomes scary. No matter the circumstances, our sure hope is in the Lord. He works for us 24/7: Behold, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep” (Psa.121:4). Our God doesn’t get sick or tired. He’s all-knowing, all-powerful, and available everywhere. God is only a prayer away. Even so, He is busy on our behalf, working all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Rom.8:28).

God is at work everywhere. In the very first verse of the Bible, He is seen to be at work creating the heavens and earth. In the last verses of Revelation, He is recorded as calling people to be saved. Throughout Scripture and in contemporary world, the Lord is active in the lives of believers and unbelievers, although in very different ways. Even when our life seems routine, it does not cancel the reality that God is busy every day conforming us to Christ’s likeness. If He allows circumstances we dislike, such situations will most likely accomplish His goal. The Lord “WORKS ALL THINGS” after the counsel of His Will (v.11b). Nothing truly works except God works it!

We have the privilege of serving the Lord who does exceeding abundantly more than we can ask or imagine (Eph.3:20). Yet, observing the lives of many believers gives the impression that they’re going through their daily life with no real awareness that God is at work. The Lord God is active all the time, listening and hearkening to the prayers of His children, orchestrating circumstances, and working through us who believe, to serve and bless others. God is at work in the life of each believer so that He will receive glory and honour. It is important that Believers know that God works and learn to see Him at work.

Knowing the works of the Lord motivates us to serve Him wholeheartedly. People who do not appreciate that God works are prone to backslide into unbelief and iniquity: “Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the GREAT WORKS of the Lord which He had done for Israel” (Jud.2:7). Those who fail to acknowledge or give regard to God’s works are disposed to destruction: “Because they do not regard the works of the Lord, nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them and not build them up” (Psa.28:5). Psalm 78:7-11 also say: “That they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments…They forgot His deeds and His miracles that He had shown them.” GOD WORKS – greatly, wondrously, and marvellously!

Beloved, let us never forget that GOD WORKS – He works all things according to His Purpose and the Plan of His Will!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
