Psalm 23: 1-6

For You meet him with the BLESSINGS of GOODNESS: You set a crown of pure gold upon his head Psalm 21:3

GOD is good – “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble…” (Nah.1:7). Goodness is in the core of His Character and Personality. His Heart overflows with Goodness. He profusely exudes the Blessings of Goodness. Even creation displays the fullness of His Goodness: “the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD” (Psa.33:5). To be good means: to be “perfect” – complete or whole; to be adequate, without lack or error; and to be fitting or morally right (Gen.2:18). God wants humanity and His children, in particular, to perpetually experience and enjoy the blessings of His Goodness: Surely GOODNESS and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever (Psa.23:6). God does not bless us begrudgingly. There is an eagerness about His beneficence. He seeks us out to do us good!

Not only is God good; He also gives good things: “Yes, the LORD will give what is GOOD; and our land will yield its increase” (Ps. 85:12). James 1:17 confirms that: “Every GOOD GIFT and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights…” Jesus epitomized the truth that God does good: “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about DOING GOOD and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38). Jesus is the GOOD Shepherd, who gave His life for the sheep (Jh.10:11,14). The Messiah came as an high priest of good things to come…” (Heb.9:11). Everything about the Almighty God is good and perfect!

Take a look at God’s Blessings of Goodness towards King David:

  • The king received JOY in God’s Strength (v.1)
  • God gave him his heart’s desire and his lip’s request (v.2)
  • God met him with the blessings of goodness (v.3a)
  • God set a crown of pure gold upon his head (v.3b)
  • God answered his prayers for life and length of days (v.4)
  • God decorated him with salvation, honor and majesty (v.5)
  • God made him exceedingly glad with His Presence (v.6)
  • The Mercy of the Most High made the king immoveable (v.7)
  • The Lord brought His enemies to judgement (v.8-9)

The Psalmist sang of the greatness of God’s Goodness: “Oh how great is Your GOODNESS, which You have laid up for those who fear You; which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men!” (Psa. 31:19). God calls us into Thanksgiving for His Goodness: “Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His GOODNESS, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psa.107:8). Let’s meditate on more of the Blessings of Good Things:

  • The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any GOOD THING (Psa.34:10).
  • For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no GOOD THING will He withhold from those who walk uprightly (Psa.84:11)
  • Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he himself will fall into his own pit; but the blameless will inherit GOOD THINGS (Pro.28:10).
  • Behold, the days coming’, says the LORD, ‘that I will perform that GOOD THING which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah’ (Jer.33:14).

God is not hesitant, indecisive or tentative in his desires to do good to His people. He never goes weary of it. Will you believe and stand on the authority of God’s Word or will you believe the reports of your senses and the enemy’s lies? God’s Word is good (Jer.29:10). His Will is good (Rom.12:2). He broadcasts Good News (Lk.2:10). He gives Good Gifts (Jam.1:17). He always does the good pleasure of His will (Eph.1:5). God is good; He does good; and He gives good gifts and good things. He never holds back from releasing the Blessings of Goodness. Are you ready to receive?

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
