FROM GRASS TO GLORY

Bible Meditation:
Isaiah 40:1-11

Grass is illustrative of Man in his fallen, natural state: “all flesh is as grass”. The word “flesh” in the Bible means much more than the material of which the human body is made. It refers to the fallen nature and unregenerate state of Man, as a consequence of Adam’s sin.

When God created Adam, he was dressed with a garment of glory. The entrance of Sin disrobed man of divine glory. What remained was a mere external form, which could not cover Man’s nakedness. Little wonder, the first parents “sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons” (Genesis 3: 7).

Thank God for His redemptive love and mercy: He replaced Adam and Eve’s withering fig leaves with “coats of skins” (Genesis 3: 21).

The best of “the glory of man” is nothing better than the flower of grass. Though God has taught Man how to cover his physical nakedness, fallen humanity remains bare, naked, empty and hollow in his spiritual essence. Man has “fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3: 23). Humanity descended down to a level comparable to the level of grass…

“…in the morning they are like GRASS, which groweth up. In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up. In the evening it is cut down, and withereth” (Psalm 90:5-6).

What a pitiable picture; what a pathetic portrait – flourishing in the morning, cut down in the evening! Man, like grass, grows up in the youthful morning of life, looking buoyant, beautiful and luxuriant. By evening, after he has been beaten, battered and scorched by the harsh weather of life, man withers, fades and falls away.

The “flesh” of Man – physical stamina, strength and stature, outward beauty and brawn, intelligence, imagination, and willpower – withers. The adorable twenty years old beauty queen, few decades after, becomes an old, broken and bent figure, battered by the vicissitudes of natural existence. The youthful, dynamic, upwardly mobile man soon degenerates into a ragged, helpless old man.

…It is not the will of God for anyone to die as grass. God’s Word reveals how to graduate from the level of Grass to higher realms in God…Grace…and Glory!!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
