LIGHT FOR THE ENRICHED LIFE

1 Corinthians 1: 1-9

“That you were ENRICHED in EVERYTHING by Him in all utterance and all knowledge” – 1 Corinthians 1:5

Redemption in Christ illuminates our hearts with LIGHT for the ENRICHED LIFE: “I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Jesus Christ, that you were ENRICHED in EVERYTHING by Him in all utterance and all knowledge” (1 Cor.1: 4-5). To be enriched is to abound and be conferred abundantly with. Our redemptive package in Christ comprises true riches, covering all aspects of life: spirit, soul and body; (Lk.16:11; 2The.5:24). Divine Enrichments are part of “things that accompany salvation” (Heb.6:9). Psalm 71:21 assures us of rounded riches: “You shall increase my greatness, and comfort me on EVERY SIDE” – health, family, finances, career, work, and ministry.

Riches refer to abundance, wealth, surplus supply of needs or whatever may promote comfort, welfare or happiness. The two broad kinds of riches are: heavenly riches and earthly riches. The latter are false, deceitful, uncertain, not to be trusted (Pro.11:28; Eccl.2:1-6; Mt.13:22; Mk.4:19; Lk.12:15-21; 1Tim.6:17; Jam.5:1-6). Heavenly riches or treasures of heaven are true, faithful, and never-failing. Specifically, Riches of Redemption are the abundant, vast, and wonderful blessings and mercies that have been conferred by the Gospel. These are spiritual and eternal, not subject to invasion by moth, incursion by rust, or intrusion by thieves (Mt.6:19-20; Eph.1:3). According to Scriptures, True Riches include the following:

Riches of His Grace: “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the RICHES of HIS GRACE” (Eph.1:7; 2:7). Grace brings Salvation (Eph.2:5,8), Peace (Gal.1:3; Eph.1:2; Col.2:2; Phi.1:2), Mercy (1 Tim.1:2; Tit.1:4; Heb.4:16); Gifts (Rom.12: 6-8); Wisdom (Eph.1:8); and Life-transforming Power (1 Cor.15;10; 2 Pet.3:18).

Riches of His Glory: “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what the RICHES of the glory of His inheritance in the saints…That He would grant you, according to the RICHES of HIS GLORY, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man” (Eph.1:18; 3:16). God has purposed to manifest “the riches of His glory on the vessels mercy” (Rom.9:23).

Riches In Glory or Greater Riches: “And my God shall supply all your need according to HIS RICHES in GLORY by Christ Jesus” (Phi.4:19). Moses esteemed “the reproach of Christ GREATER RICHES than the treasures in Egypt” (Heb.11:26).

Unsearchable Riches of Christ: “To me, who am less than the least of all saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the UNSEARCHABLE RICHES of CHRIST” (Eph.3:8).

Riches of His Goodness: “Or do you despise the RICHES of HIS GOODNESS, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? (Rom.2:4). God’s Goodness includes: Divine Provisions – Deliverance from lack and poverty (Exo.3:21; Psa.105:37; Dt.8:18); Divine Health – Wealth without health equals lack (3 Jh.2; Exo.15:26; 23:25-26; Psa.103:3; Isa.53:5); and Divine Wisdom – Supernatural Intelligence: Redemption positions us for mental distinction in life (1Cor.1:24, 2:16).
