LIGHT FOR HEALING AND HEALTH (3)

“For I will restore HEALTH to you and HEAL you of your wounds,’ says the Lord… – Jeremiah 30:17a

God’s covenant promises to Zion reflect LIGHT for HEALING and HEALTH: “For I will restore HEALTH to you and HEAL you of your wounds,’ says the Lord, ‘Because they called you an outcast, saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.” (Jer.30:17). Healing and Health are central in the Will of God and constitute a vital part of our Inheritance in Christ. Although daily life in this sin-soaked world is filled with diverse diseases and sicknesses, God’s Word is full of covenant promises of healing and health. His Will for us is sound health of spirit, soul, and body.

God assured Israel that all her devourers shall be devoured, her adversaries shall go into captivity, those who plundered her shall become plunder, and all who preyed upon her He will make a prey (v.16). The Message Bible puts it expressively: “Everyone who hurt you will be hurt; your enemies will end up as slaves. Your plunderers will be plundered; your looters will become loot. As for you, I’ll come with HEALING, curing the incurable, because they all gave up on you and dismissed you as hopeless – that good-for-nothing Zion.” (Jer.30:16-17, MSG).

In like manner, God’s Power shall devour every devouring disease, arrest every belligerent sickness, cause every plundering infirmity to become plunder before us, and all afflictions of Egypt that had preyed upon us, He will make a prey. The Lord restores health and heals all sores – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. God is never economical with His Healing virtue. He promised further: “Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small” (v.19).

God’s Light of Healing and Health also brings blessings of generational and corporate restoration: “Their children also shall be as before, and their congregation shall be established before Me; and I will punish all who oppress them” (v.20). All oppressive aches, discomfort, and pains, shall bow under the Hand of the Lord God! He’ll ensure we live to our full potential: “Their nobles shall be from among them, and their governor shall come from their midst...” (v.21). We shall never be in bondage or subjection to any stranger in the form of disease or infirmity.

Satan is the oppressor; the author of afflictions. God, through His Son Jesus Christ, is the Source and Supplier of Healing and Health: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth withthe Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and HEALING all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38). Above all, Healing is in the atonement and in Christ’s redemption package: “...by whose stripes you were healed” (1Pet.2:24). Jesus paid in full, the price for our healing, but we must reach out and embrace what Jesus did for us by faith!
