Psalm 121: 1-8

“My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth”– Psalm 121:2

In my brief walk with the the LORD by faith, I’ve come to know Him as MY EVER-PRESENT HELP: “MY HELP comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth” (Psa.121:2). Psalm 121 is a constant reminder of Faith in the midst of trials. Although the psalmist was looking up, he was not looking for the mountains themselves to help him. Rather, the mountains reminded him of God’s Power – that God alone is our Source of help. Every other entity is a channel, instrument, or vessel. It is the Father’s Will to guide our hearts and minds to always look to Him. We need not try to seek help from elsewhere before we come to realize that help from God would have made things much easier and less complicated. We need to be re-awakened to acknowledge and trust only in God as our Helper.

Let’s meditate and reflect together on this Psalm of Faith's Perseverance in Trials:

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills – from whence comes my help?” (v.1). Enduring help does not come from any hill, stream, mountain, human being, or institution. Only God can “give us help from trouble; for vain is the help of man” (Psa.60:11; 108:12). When it seems like you are stuck and all hope is gone, you have One who shows up as “a VERY PRESENT HELP in trouble” (Psa.46:1b). He has assured that no matter the trials, His help will come right in the nick of time (Psa.46:5).

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth” (v.2). In the midst of his uncertainty, David suddenly awoke to the truth of God’s Word and exclaimed, “My help comes from the Lord!” That means, “I am not stuck. I am not stranded. There is always hope. I’ll overcome.” God always sends help when we seek Him. He, whose Power created and sustains the universe is able to help us in whatever state we may be find ourselves in. He rescued David “out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay” (Psa.40:2). He’ll do likewise for every Believer.

“He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber” (v.3). God “knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10). My paths in life are not hidden from God, as He keeps watch over me always (Pro.15:3). God is watching over me, not just so that He can make a note of when I get things wrong, but so He can protect and guide me through the many twists and turns of life. The awareness that God's eye is on us should give us the confidence to forge ahead in His name. God will never fail us!

“Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand” (v.4-5). God will not allow you to be snatched from Him when you have entrusted yourself to His care. As He watches over you, nothing will get by Him. There is absolutely nothing that will happen in your life that will be a surprise to God for He is always awake. He is your faithful Shepherd who will work all things out for our good (Rom.8:28).

The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul” (vv.6-7). God will protect you from all harm; deliver you from evil machinations that seek to destroy you; and help you to remain strong and emerge victorious in your walk with Him.

“The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore” (v.8). God is your Helper, caring Shepherd, and loving Father. Surrender yourself to Him in total trust. He will help you using whatever instrument or vessel He chooses: others, miracles, and even unexpected challenges that are blessings in disguise. Be discerning and be led by the Holy Spirit and you will not miss your very present Help!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
