“…Tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with POWER from on HIGH” – Luke 24:49b
Our Lord Jesus instructed His disciples to prepare to be clothed with POWER FROM ON HIGH for Divine Performance: “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with POWER from on HIGH” (Lk.24:49). His resurrection was not the end of the story; it was the initiation of a new era. He instructed His disciples to wait – a difficult command for those eager to see the Kingdom restored. Divine Power for Performance is not generated by human zeal, intellectual prowess, or emotional fervour. It is a heavenly garment – clothing from on high – designed to equip Believers to be effective witnesses in a challenging world.
First, the Lord erected a scriptural Foundation for Empowerment (vv.44-46). He opened their minds to understand that the Old Testament – the Law, Prophets, Psalms – pointed to His suffering, resurrection, and the global preaching of repentance. Divine Power is always aligned with the Word of God. True empowerment produces a deeper understanding of Scripture and commitment to Christ’s salvation message. Next, He released a Mandate to Witness (vv.47-48). Believers are designated witnesses of Christ’s resurrection and the power of forgiveness; one that’s not for self-aggrandizement but for mission, enabling believers to testify to the transformative work of Jesus to all nations.
The Holy Spirit is “the Promise of the Father”! He bridges the gap between human limitation and Divine Purpose. But, receiving Him involves the Strategy of “Tarrying”: “Stay in the city... until...” (v.49b). Waiting is not passive; it is active preparation. Tarrying is a test of obedience and an acknowledgement that without the Holy Spirit, we can do nothing effective. Enthused by the promise, the disciples moved from fear to great Joy, continually praising God (vv.50-53). Divine Power produces lasting joy and a life of worshipful service for excellent performance.
Beloved, let’s learn to wait on God rather than rush into critical life decisions, ministries, assignments or projects based solely on human strength. It pays to “tarry” in study and prayer until we have inner assurance from the Holy Spirit, as He opens our mind to the Scriptures, so our performance is based on divine truth, not human opinion. We should also embrace our witnessing role wherever we are, relying on the Spirit to give us bold testimony and a Christ-like Character. Let’s treat His Power like daily clothing – essential for facing each day.
In Jesus’ Name I prophesy that:
I am filled with fresh power to handle life’s daily responsibilities. I am divinely empowered for peak performance and maximized results.
I am clothed with power from on high, therefore I will not fail or be demoted. Doors of opportunity open for me, as I walk in Divine Favour.
I operate under open heavens, with extraordinary capacity to produce divine results that baffle human understanding.
I am a witness for Christ, manifesting His Glory and Power. I refuse to struggle by human strength, but function in the Sufficiency of God.
My mind is anointed with God’s Wisdom to proffer solutions to complex problems. His Joy is my strength, and I am a blessing to humanity.

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
