PROMISES OF DIVINE DEFENCE

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn…” – Isaiah 54:17a

God is absolutely committed to fulfilling His PROMISES of DIVINE DEFENCE: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord” (Isa.54:17). Today’s meditation passage offers some of the most profound promises of divine defence and protection in the Bible, written as a covenant of peace to a people returning from exile – symbolized as a “barren woman” now comforted by God. The scriptures emphasize that while opposition may arise, God’s divine defence is impenetrable and His protection is total. 

The passage dwells on God’s Unshakable Love. He promises that even if mountains are removed, His “kindness” and “covenant of peace” will never depart. He pledged to rebuild the city – representing lives – with precious stones, moving from destruction to beauty (vv.10-12). This would entail God Himself teaching us His people, resulting in great peace – Shalom – for our children (v.13). God's people would then be established in righteousness, and be far from oppression and fear (v.14). The Lord clarified that while enemies may gather against us, it is not by His command (vv.15-16). He revealed that He is in control of the “blacksmith” who makes the weapon and the "destroyer," meaning that no attack can succeed without Him allowing. Verse 17 is the Final Promise: The ultimate assurance of safety and vindication.

Divine Defence is often contingent upon trusting, obeying, and abiding in God, our Refuge and Shield, as He protects His people from physical and spiritual harm. The Almighty promises that no weapon – spiritual or physical opposition – formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against us in judgment shall be condemned. This is described as the heritage of the servants of the Lord, with our righteousness being from God. This infers that while challenges may arise, they will not succeed, and Victory is guaranteed over accusations and slander. This is a birthright for those who serve the Lord.

Here are a few prophetic declarations of Divine Defence, in Jesus’ Name:

God's covenant of peace is upon my life, unshaken by any obstacle. My life is built on righteousness, free from oppression and fear.

Every weapon against me is powerless. I am protected by God, not subject to the "destroyer."

Accusations against me are condemned and silenced. The source of weapons against me is under God's control.

My children are taught by the Lord and have great peace. Established in righteousness, I will not fear.

Protection and vindication are my heritage as a servant of the Lord. Any gathering against me will fail.

Though weapons may form, they will not succeed or stand. My vindication comes from the Lord, making me safe and victorious.
