Bible Meditation:
1 Peter 5: 1-14

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and SETTLE you – 1 Peter 5:10

GRACE is God’s divine Instrument by which He matures, establishes, strengthens, and SETTLES His own. That a Christian shall suffer is an irrefutable Biblical truth. This is in fact an intrinsic condition of living in a world contrary to God, a temporary world that will be cast away to establish the Kingdom of God. Notwithstanding the reality or possibility of suffering however, we have and serve the God Who makes us perfect as Christians (matures us in love and faith); establishes our faith; strengthens us in character; and settles us in all dimensions of life and destiny, until His coming.

This verse captures much of Peter's letter in one powerful sentence. While reiterating that suffering is real, especially for those who are persecuted for trusting in Christ, he underlines the “brevity” of suffering – “suffered a while” – and portrays the multiple “positives” that succeed suffering. We cannot expect our salvation to absolutely eliminate discomfort and suffering on this side of eternity. But we have the assurance of the ever-present “Comforter” with us; and our eternal salvation means that suffering will ultimately come to an end, and end forever.

God wants to settle you. Will you allow Him? After the death of king David, his son Solomon found a well-settled kingdom. His duty would be to maintain it, which was impracticable due to the fact that he did not keep the Way of his father David, who followed in obedience and love for God. In the Greek Text of the New Testament, the word “themeliosei” – “will settle” may be translated as foundation, settlement or establishment. In any of these forms, God is telling us that we must be settled by Him. In the same manner as the Temple of Jerusalem was settled, and we say that Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone, the Foundation over which all the structure is raised, likewise God raises an entire Christian life after the foundation of the faith in Jesus Christ, until we are settled in His Will for our lives and in His Church.

God wants to settle the design and details of your life, including every domestic detail; the church that He chooses for you, where He’ll make you a functional member and faithful minister; and your business, career or ministry directions. Your life may be full of challenges, not only as a Christian, but as a person, an eternal pilgrim sojourning through this passing world. Your dreams and desires, vision and missions, family and projects; all of those things that you sometimes think you can program, drive or control, are under the hand of your heavenly Father. You cannot live your life to its full without counting on Him. Even more, you must not, without asking Him: What is Your plan for my life and where will you settle me? The question of becoming settled, far from being locational, includes your family, profession, dreams and decisions.

A Christian cannot make life’s choices casually or carelessly; it is the Holy Spirit to Whom that power belongs. These are matter between the Father and His child. It belongs to God to settle you in a country, in a city, in a family, in a marriage, in a discipline, career or profession. God has all kinds of ways to convince you of what, or where you are to be settled. Then it remains the matter of “when.” In many instances, He will tell you in advance of their fulfillment, but then you will be tried in patience until His promises are fulfilled. The God of all Grace, the Great Architect of Life, the wonderful Detailer of Destinies always has a marvelous plan. Therefore you can trust Him without reservation, for He made you and not you yourself.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
