WEALTHY HEALTH

“Beloved, I pray that you may PROSPER in all things and be in HEALTH, just as your SOUL PROSPERS” – 3 John 2

For those who believe, God’s Portion in His Word, is WEALTHY HEALTH: “Beloved, I pray that you may PROSPER in all things and be in HEALTH, just as your SOUL PROSPERS” (3 Jh.2). The concept of Wealthy Health derives from the principle that Health is superior to Wealth, or as others say, “Health is Wealth”! As inspired by the Holy Spirit, I love to say: “Health Trumps Wealth”! We can understand the meaning and significance of “Wealthy Health” by noting what the opposite is – Poor health. This has been defined as a person’s inability to perform required tasks physically, mentally, socially, or spiritually. That is not the Believer’s portion.

Wealthy Health is an all-inclusive descriptor for a state of sound, robust health – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. As John the beloved prayed the Father’s Heart, God’s Will is for His children to “PROSPER in all things and be in HEALTH” even as our souls prosper. His Will is for us to be blessed spiritually and with sound health, a sound mind and sound body – Holistic and Wealthy Health!  This contrasts with the pervading state of poor health in the world, with lives ravaged by diverse diseases, dysfunctions, disorders, and addictions. Fear and despair are leading to states of depression and deterioration in quality of life.

To withstand the devastating plague, God is opening the Treasures of His Word and releasing the Power of His Spirit to manifest Divine Healings and Holistic, Wealthy Health among His covenant people. Our two-pronged strategy is to MEDITATE in His Word and PRAY in Faith, believing for complete, Wealthy Health – spirit, soul, mind, and body. A healthy life transcends just a physically fit body, free of injury, pain, or illness. Wealthy Health pertains to every part of our lives. In Christ, we are rich and wealthy in Health.

Right from the Old Covenant, God had demonstrated to His people the WEALTH of HEALTH: “He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes” (Psa.105:37). God delivered His people from Egyptian oppression by His Mighty Hand. Moreover, He ensured that they were loaded with silver and gold, while being kept in sound health. The Egyptians were willing to furnish the Israelites with whatever they requested, just to dismiss them. Egypt was glad when they departed because God so wonderfully proved Himself and pleaded their cause that the fear of Israel fell upon Egypt (Psa.105:38).

God’s liberation of His people with abundance of silver and gold would have been useless for the wilderness journey if they lacked sound health! Jehovah spread a covering cloud to protect them from the intense heat of the desert sun. He blessed them with both material wealth and the wealth of health, the latter sustaining the former! Wealthy Health is of inestimable value and cannot be bought with money! What price can we put on the Oxygen we freely breathe? How much could we rent a heart, a kidney, a liver, or the intestine? How much can we save to sustain just one bodily organ for a month?

We must be thankful if God has spared us the agony of bargaining the price of a heart, kidney transplant or liver transplant, or cancer treatment! Wealthy Health can be our covenant portion in Christ. However, to the extent that God enables us, we must: take good care of our health; live by the covenants of health and healing; observe basic health rules, reasonable exercises and good nutrition; and trust God for His best. To the one who still falls sick, God says: “Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up” (Jam.5:14-15). When necessary, we should seek medical attention, and live to enjoy Wealthy Health!
