John 15: 1-11

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you– John 15:7

The WORTH of GOD’S WORDS is infinite:If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you(Jh.15:7). An interesting story is told about an old miner who had lived the life of a hermit deep in the mountains. When he died, some of his distant relatives came to collect his valuables. They arrived to find a decrepit miner's shack, inside of which was an old cooking pot, some mining equipment, a cracked table with a three-legged chair, and an old kerosene lamp. As the relatives gathered up his possessions, loaded them in a truck, and got ready to leave, the miner's old friend came walking up, and asked: “Do you all mind if I take what is left in that old shack?" “Oh, no,” they said. “Take it. We have all the valuable stuff. You can have whatever is there.” The man thanked them, and off they went.

He walked over to his friend's shack and looked around for a little bit. Then he reached under the table and lifted up one of the floorboards. One by one, he lifted out millions of dollars’ worth of gold that his friend had discovered over the previous decades. Apparently, the old miner had died with only his true friend knowing his real worth. In the same way, our friend, Jesus Christ, wants to make Himself known to us like a friend, not like the distant relatives. As we know Him intimately, we would discover the riches He has for us – all in HIS WORD: “In the volume of the book it is written of Me" (Heb.10:7).

Here are seven reasons why the Word of God has infinite worth and value:

God’s Word awakens and sustains FAITH. There is no salvation without faith; and no saving faith without the Bible: “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Rom.10:17).

God gives us the Holy Spirit through the hearing of His Word: Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? (Gal.3:5). Colossians 3:16 says: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (Col.3:16). Being filled with the word of Christ and being filled with the Spirit are related, because the Spirit comes where the word comes.

God’s Word creates and sustains LIFE: “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life(Jh.6:63). Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Mt.4:4).

God’s Word gives HOPE: For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope (Rom.15:4). Everything written in the Bible is written to give hope to God’s elect.

God’s Word leads us to LIBERTY: “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (Jh.8:32). The Word of God is TRUTH, the knowledge of which makes us free (Jh.17:17).

God’s Word gives us VICTORY over the devil. The devil “was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him” (Jh.8:44a). Satan cannot stand before the truth of God’s Word. Jesus always triumphed with His words (Mt.4: 4, 7, 10). We can do the same: “I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one” (1Jh.2:14b).

God’s Word is the source of full and everlasting JOY: “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full” (Jh.15:11).

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
