"…remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant...”  – Deuteronomy 8:18a

The Lord God specializes in Divine Empowerment for COVENANT PERFORMANCE: "And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day" (Deut.8:18). Today’s meditation passage warns against pride. It paints a picture of a “land of plenty” that can make us forget the “God of the desert” as the Source of our Success! When we walk in favour, see our endeavours grow, or receive promotions, the loudest temptation is to believe, "I did this"!  Performance and prosperity are not merely products of human ingenuity or strenuous labour; they are the result of divine empowerment.

God gives the Power – the capacity, creative ideas, insight, and favour – not just for luxury, but to establish His covenant and advance His Kingdom on earth. The Danger of Prosperity is that abundance can create spiritual amnesia. When we are satisfied, we often forget the God who brought us out of the “Egypt” of poverty and slavery (vv.11-14, 17). The wilderness also has a purpose: God allows testing in the "dreadful wilderness" to humble us and prepare us for the blessing, ensuring we depend on Him, not our own strength (vv.15-16). God Himself is the Source of Empowerment (v.18): It is God who gives the Power, including wisdom, focus, and opportunity to create wealth.

The key verse 18 states the Covenant Purpose: Prosperity is given to confirm God’s covenant promises – that we might be blessed to be a blessing. So, let’s sustain the Spirit of Gratitude, regularly acknowledge God as the Source of our abilities and achievements to avoid pride. Our skills and resources are meant for advancing God's Kingdom, not selfish gain. Ultimately, obedience brings empowerment: The power to prosper is linked to following God's laws and commands, as this keeps us in alignment with the covenant.

In Jesus’ name, I affirm that:

I operate under open heavens, and my capacity to create wealth is expanded. Every blockage delaying my financial breakthroughs is dismantled.

I receive divine, innovative ideas that make my work a massive success. I am blessed with the wisdom to turn life’s efforts into great results. 

My hands are anointed to build, produce, and prosper. I move from survival to dominion, funding God's work and blessing others.

God’s Favour surrounds all my endeavours, making me ten times better. I will not labour in vain, nor will I produce for strangers to eat.

I am a vessel of blessing, and I walk in the fullness of covenant promises. I am not limited by the economy; my supply comes from heaven’s abundance.

Oh Lord, fill me with the divine power, wisdom, and creativity to produce lasting wealth. Teach me to manage resources according to Your purpose, to establish Your covenant through me.
