“OH, SEND OUT YOUR LIGHT and YOUR TRUTH!...” – Psalm 43:3a
The Psalmist knew the Worth of beginning and being led in life’s journeys by GOD’S WORD of LIGHT: “OH, SEND OUT YOUR LIGHT and YOUR TRUTH! Let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle” (Psa.43:3). The psalmist was asking the Lord to lead him back to Jerusalem, where he could once again joyfully worship Him. He knew what it means to FOLLOW the LIGHT. He knew that Believers are ordained to TRIUMPH by LIGHT in the Battles of Life! King David was not a stranger to life’s battles. Here, he needed help to overcome the fear of his enemies. He therefore prayed that God would send out His LIGHT and His TRUTH; that his hope in God could be restored. He was feeling the sting of oppression from his enemies, who he described as deceitful and unjust (v.1).
We live in a world full of so much wickedness, that at times, it seems hopeless. That’s where David was. Though he was a King with great power and riches, he felt almost hopeless: “Why do You cast me off? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” (v.2b). However, David quickly reminded himself that God was His only Answer; the One to turn to in seemingly hopeless situations: “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God” (v.5). That was the product of Light – Revelation! David knew that even though he felt hopeless, God would answer his cry. He had turned to God many times before and had been rescued. He knew his God was faithful and true to rescue him again.
The word “light” in Psalm 43:3 has several Hebrew meanings: Illumination, lightning, bright, morning, and sun. In hopeless situations, God knows we need to see the light at the end of the tunnel. He manifests His Light primarily by means of His Word: “YOUR WORD is a lamp to my feet and a LIGHT to MY PATH…The entrance of YOUR WORDS gives LIGHT; It gives understanding to the simple” (Psa.119: 105, 130).
The word “truth” in this verse also has several Hebrew meanings: certainty, stability, trustworthiness, faithful, right, sure, and true. It wouldn’t do any good to have hope in something that wasn’t true. David asked for LIGHT and TRUTH. We should do the same. God is faithful. David knew his victory over his enemies was in God alone. He asked to be led to His holy hill and His dwelling places. There is no greater peace and joy than being in God’s Presence; having our hearts and minds overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit.
When we look back at our lives to remember God’s answer to our prayers in the past, it strengthens our present with hope. The God Who heard and answered before, will hear and answer again! David asked the Lord to send out HIS LIGHT and HIS TRUTH – to reveal His Faithfulness again as He had done in the past. As we follow King David’s example, trusting God for His LIGHT and TRUTH, we will overcome fear, find hope, and be guided continually to enjoy the Presence of the Lord – empowered to ascend His holy hill and dwell in His Tabernacle!

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
