PRAISE: WEAPON OF WARFARE (II)

Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated – 2Chronicles 20:22 (NKJV)

PRAISE: WEAPON OF WARFARE (I)

So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city Joshua 6:20 (NKJV)

THE POWER IN PRAISE

Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious…Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You– Psalm 66:1-3 (NKJV)

PRAISE AND GOD’S PRESENCE

But You are holy, Who inhabit the praises of Israel – Psalm 22:3

BEAUTY AND BENEFITS OF PRAISE

Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is beautiful – Psalm 147:1

TWO HINDRANCES TO PRAISE

I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth – Psalm 34:1

There are two chief hindrances to a Lifestyle of Praise: Selfishness and Pride. Many are living defeated and dejected lives because they have been slaves to selfishness and pawns to pride. They have neither discovered nor learned how to tap into the power of praise!

CREATED TO PRAISE GOD

This people have I formed for Myself; they shall show forth My Praise – Isaiah 43:21

Yesterday, we began to meditate on the rationale for praise. We noted that: God is worthy to be praised; praise is our holy calling; praise is evidence of life; and praise defeats the enemies and puts evil to flight. Added to these is the truth that you and I were CREATED TO PRAISE GOD!

WHY PRAISE GOD?

I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies – Psalm 18:3

Today, let’s meditate on this very important question: Why praise God? Here are four out of many reasons to praise God:

PRAISE GLORIFIES GOD

Whoever offers praise glorifies Me… – Psalm 50:23

God is the Focus of Praise. To praise God is to be preoccupied with Him. Praise is a Preoccupation with who God is, what He has done, and what He is going to do! The heart filled with praise brings delight and pleasure to God. The brief six-versed Psalm 150 has the word “Praise” mentioned a dozen times and the phrase “Praise Him…”, “Praise God…” or “Praise the Lord” also a dozen times. That means: Praise is all about God. It’s a privilege to be called upon to praise the LORD!

PRAISE CELEBRATES GOD

From the rising of the sun to its going down the Lord’s name is to be praised – Psalms 113:3

PRAISE is the Celebration of God as your heart’s ultimate and true home! The human heart finds no real rest except in God. God is the Centre and Focus of Praise. Praise is extolling God for what He has done and is doing. True praise celebrates and glorifies God and takes our eyes off ourselves. True praise is precious in the sight of the Lord. True praise draws us closer to God, and farther from the flesh.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
