DIVINE PEACE (9)

"The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I WILL GIVE PEACE,’…" – Haggai 2:9

For Believers who cherish and embrace DIVINE PEACE, endings are guaranteed to outshine beginnings: "The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I WILL GIVE PEACE,’ says the Lord of hosts" (Hag.2:9). In the journey of faith, it’s easy to look at what has been lost and assume our best days are behind us. Such need never be the case with the Divine Performer Who actively executes His Word despite physical limitations. In today’s meditation passage, God spoke to a discouraged remnant rebuilding the temple, shifting their gaze from their scarce resources to His sovereign ability, concluding in a radical promise of transformation.

The older generation fell into the trap of comparison as they looked at the new foundation and wept because it paled in contrast to the architectural majesty of Solomon’s original temple (v.3). God asked, "Is it not in your eyes as nothing?" He addressed the human tendency to measure divine potential by physical appearance, but with the purpose of adding value. God commanded the leadership and the people to "be strong and work." The fuel for their labour was not their wealth, but an ancient covenant promise: "My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!" (vv.4-5). Divine Performance does not depend on our material abundance, but relies fully on the active presence of the Holy Spirit.

Ultimately, the Lord announced that He will shake the heavens, the earth, and all nations, specifically purposed to reroute the wealth of the world into His house (vv.6-8). He reminded them that resource scarcity is an illusion when the Creator decides to perform His Word. The climax of this divine intervention is twofold: Greater Glory and Absolute Peace – Shalom: wholeness, safety, prosperity, and tranquillity (v.9). God promised that the eventual environment of the newly filled temple will be an unbreakable fortress of Divine Peace.

Beloved, let’s break free from past glory and stop comparing our current season to past achievements. God's current blueprint for our lives can exceed what we have lost (vv. 3, 9). Our future can vastly eclipse our past feats. The crowning of our stories can be far more glorious than the beginning. If overwhelmed by the scale of our assignments, let’s shift our focus away from our limitations while depending intentionally on the Holy Spirit, who remains with and in us (vv.4-5). Finally, we can rest in God’s Provision. When financial or physical shortages threaten our peace, let’s remind our souls that God owns the silver and the gold. He will shake systems to supply our need (v.8).

In Jesus’ Name, I decree that:

The glory of my latter days shall be vastly greater than the former! I receive unshakeable Shalom – wholeness – in my household today.

I reject the spirit of discouragement; my current small beginning is turning into a global testimony, and my expectations will never be cut off.

In the exact place where I experienced lack, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I receive supernatural strength to work and build my destiny.

I cast out the spirit of fear by the Spirit of the Living God living in me. Every missing piece in my life is being perfectly restored by the Lord.
