Luke 6: 12-19

“And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for POWER went out from Him and HEALED them all” Luke 6:19

GOD’S WORDS of HEALING reveal that though it’s in the Redemption package, we must press in to possess our possessions: “And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and HEALED them all” (Lk. 6:19). The age of healings and miracles has not passed. Physical healing is part of Christ’s Present-Day Ministry. Here are Six Basic Truths about Healing:

God is the Healer, and He has never changed: “…For I am the Lord who heals you” (Ex.15:26b). Healing is so central to God’s Mission of Redemption, that Christ died to not only atone for sins but also for sicknesses. As we noted in the last two preceding devotionals: Healing was pre-figured and prophesied in the atonement (Is.53:4-5); and Healing is the children’s bread that we don’t need to beg for (Mk.7:27). Healing is not an appendage or a supplement. It is God’s Will that humanity enjoys His Healing Grace.

Jesus healed the sick, and still does: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and HEALING ALL who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38). Sickness resulted from Satan’s introduction of sin into this world. In contrast, through healing, Christ destroys the works of Satan (1Jh.3:8). During His earth-walk, healings in the Ministry of Jesus flowed from hearts of compassion: “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and HEALED their SICK” (Mt.14:14). God still manifests healings by compassion.

Jesus also heals to reveal the Father’s glory: “Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed; and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and HE HEALED them” (Mt.15:30-31). Jesus commanded His disciples: Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give” (Mt.10:8). The Holy Spirit Who did all of Christ’s miracles and raised Him from the dead is still in the Church with all of His life-giving and healing power.

Miracles of healing manifested in the early Church (Acts 3:6-7): The book of Acts is not a mere historical record. It has undeniable records of dominion over demons and diseases, and is the Pattern for the Church. Jesus commissioned all believers to lay hands on the sick for healing, as part of His Great Commission: “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons… they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mk.16:17-18). James 5:14 is more direct: Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

Christ heals today because: it is His nature to heal; and it is His purpose to destroy the works of the devil; so that those healed can serve Him better. Healing is God’s marvelous promise, fulfilled through the exercise of our faith. In order to appropriate our healing, we need to: Know God’s scriptural promises to heal and be convinced that they are for us personally; understand that God wants us to be well; its Satan that wants us to suffer afflictions and be sick (Job 2:7); understand that physical healing is a part of salvation – the Saviour is also the Healer (Ps.103:3); repent of unconfessed sins, receive and release forgiveness (1 Jh.1:9; Mt.18:23-25); and ask the Lord to heal according to His promises. We must believe that He hears; He does not enjoy seeing us suffer (Ps.103:13).

Faith is fundamental to Healing. We must believe when we pray that we have received what we asked for. Jesus gave us authority to heal and be healed. Faith speaks; hence we speak to and command any part of our body that needs healing, in Jesus’ name!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
