THE LIGHT OF WISDOM (8)

“For the Lord gives WISDOM; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up SOUND WISDOM for the upright…” – Proverbs 2:6-7a

The LIGHT of WISDOM is released from God’s Unlimited Reservoir of Divine Supplies: “For the Lord gives WISDOM; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up SOUND WISDOM for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly” (Pro.2:6-7). With Him, there is never a fear of Scarcity or Lack of Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding. God is the Source and Supplier of Sound Wisdom. His Word is the Answer Book to all situations of life, with supernatural solutions to all situations. But we need to sit down, locate His nuggets and work them out: “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost…” (Lk.14:28).

The first step is to FIND WISDOM: “So shall the Knowledge of WISDOM be to your soul; if you have FOUND IT, there is a prospect, and your hope will not be cut off” (Pro.24:14). This begins with the Fear of God: “The FEAR of the LORD is the BEGINNING of WISDOM…” (Pro.9:10a). By the Fear of God, we hold His Word in high esteem. Wisdom attends to passionate desire from the heart: “If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures” (v.4). Next, we ask and pray for Wisdom (Jam.1:5). The most vital requirement is to study and meditate in God’s Word.

The Light of Wisdom is sweet: “Truly the light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun” (Ecc.11:7). However, it’s by meditating in God’s Word that we can enjoy the sweetness and pleasantness of Wisdom: “May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord” (Psa.104:34). God’s Wisdom works to sweeten our lives, as we put the Word to work. No matter how dire life’s situation is, panic is never the answer. What is needed is to settle down with God’s Word, connect with His Spirit, and organize scriptural missiles.

The Believer’s spirit has the capacity to collect divine secrets from the Holy Spirit and deliver them to the mind for processing and action. GOD has STORED UP “SOUND WISDOM” in His Word (v.7). It’s our responsibility to desire, seek, and access the reservoirs of redemption: “My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding” (v.1-2). The results: Wisdom guards (v.8), guides (v.9); preserves and keeps us from all evil (vv.11-13).

God’s Wisdom unveils the Way to becoming solutions to situations. Wisdom helps to simplify complex issues so we can concentrate our efforts. Those with much energy of faith, but little productivity of wisdom, have ability, devoid of instruction and direction of wisdom. They toil in the dark, rather than work in the light. The wise person walks and works in the Light of God’s Word!
