Bible Meditation:
Psalm 59: 1-17

To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for GOD IS MY DEFENSE, the GOD of MY MERCY” Psalm 59:17

People often speak of Mercy like a passive concept, but the Scriptures reveal the MIGHT of MERCY: “To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for GOD IS MY DEFENSE, the GOD of MY MERCY” (Psa.59:17). The God of my Defence is also the God of my Mercy, implying that His Mercy is my Defence! The Mercy of God is not a mere idea, a feeble, passive notion, but a formidable divine Force and tangible reality. God’s Mercy is mighty to defend, to deliver, to rescue, to preserve, to secure, and to sustain. The Almighty God is also “the FATHER of MERCIES and the God of all comfort” (2Cor.1:3b). The Psalmist sand a great deal about the Might of Mercy. Let’s meditate on the Psalmist’s Testimonies concerning Mercy:

God hears and answers our prayers by His Mercy: “Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me when I was in distress; have MERCY on me, and hear my prayer” (Psa.4:1). Psalm 66:20 says: “Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer, nor HIS MERCY from me.” God’s Mercy facing your direction is guarantee of answered prayers!

God grants us great deliverance by His Mercy: “Great deliverance He gives to His king, and shows MERCY to His anointed, to David, and his descendants forevermore” (Psa.18:50).

God delivers us from trouble and from tears and grief by His Mercy: “Have MERCY on me, O LORD, for I am in trouble; my eye wastes away with grief, Yes, my soul and my body” (Psa.31:9).

God strengthens and heals us by His Mercy: “Have MERCY on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, HEAL me, for my bones are troubled” (Psa.6:2).

God establishes and makes us unmoveable through His Mercy: “For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the MERCY of the Most High he shall not be moved” (Psa.21:7). Trusting in God’s Mercy unflinchingly will establish us “like a green olive tree in the house of God” (Psa.52:8).

God helps and saves us by His Mercy: “Hear, O LORD, and have MERCY on me; LORD, be my helper” (Psa.30:10). The Psalmist also prayed: “HELP ME, O LORD my God! Oh, save me according to Your MERCY” (Psa.109:26).

God surrounds and defends us from sorrow by His mercy:  “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; but he who trusts in the LORD, MERCY shall surround him” (Psa.32:10).

God defends us in the day of trouble by His Mercy: “But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your MERCY in the morning; for You have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble” (Psa.59:16).

God satisfies and causes us to rejoice and be glad, by His Mercy: “Oh, satisfy us early with Your MERCY, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days!” (Psa.90:14).

God upholds our feet from tripping, slipping or falling, by His Mercy: “If I say, “My foot slips,” Your MERCY, O LORD, will hold me up” (Psa.94:18). His Mercy is our Anchor against the Tempter of our souls and the Adversary of our destinies.

God sustains our lives and perfects our destinies, by His Mercy: “The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your MERCY, O LORD, endures forever; do not forsake the works of Your hands” (Psa.138:8).

It is by His Mercy that God cuts off our enemies and destroyers all who afflict our souls: “In Your MERCY cut off my enemies, and destroy all those who afflict my soul; for I am Your servant” (Psa.143:12).

Israel spent four hundred years in Egypt – years of cruel bondage and repeated attempts to destroy God’s people; but He preserved them by His Mercy and delivered them with a mighty hand. Another forty years in the waste howling wilderness, beset by heathen nations without and the mixed multitude within; yet the Might of Mercy preserved them from being consumed! The same Mercy is keeping His Church from satanic annihilation! The Might of His Mercy shall establish and uphold us to the end!

Prayer:
Lord, let the MIGHT of Your MERCY deliver, defend, establish, preserve, uphold, and perfect all that concerns me, in Jesus name.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
