Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord – Ephesians 5:19
Praise the Lord! It’s another Sunday, and Music in its diverse forms and melodies would be resounding in different churches all over the world. But, how many believers really appreciate and consciously experience the motivational power in Music? There is a unique capacity in music to influence the human spirit, soul, and body. Music Motivates! There is power in music, especially psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs that are composed under the anointing, inspiration, and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Such genre of music has a divine ability to calm down frayed nerves and troubled souls, and bring strength to the weary and healing to the sick.
The power of music was displayed in the life of King Saul when the Spirit of God departed from him and an evil spirit troubled him. David the Shepherd-boy was invited, and he used hymns played on his harp to drive out the spirits of insanity from Saul (1Sam.16:14, 23). This depicts the power in music to inspire and motivate ministers to release the unction for healing and deliverance, and the sick or oppressed to receive. It is not surprising that this Psalmist of Israel was a highly-motivated King and Leader. His Psalms were spiritual songs inspired by God, and prayers sang to Him from the depth of the heart. Such music melts the soul, stirring sincere tears that lead to deep conviction, repentance, transformation, and consecration. Christians are meant to be mutually edified through the medium of musical communication (1Cor.14:26).
Anointed Hymns could be particularly impactful. Hymns are spiritual songs created by God and “downloaded” by anointed vessels, to enrich lives and release the refreshing Presence of the Holy Spirit. The healing message of a hymn can flow over a sinking soul and aching body like “ointment poured forth” (SoS 1:3). There are some “evergreen” hymns that were composed centuries ago but still bear a unique flavor, not only by their melody but also by the divine grace and presence that singing or even humming them invokes. We should learn to sing such hymns meditatively and prayerfully, in order to tap into the flow of unction within them. Indeed, there are converts who were ushered into the blessing of Salvation through the medium of inspired Christian music, composed by men and women who were gifted to bring down the Glory! Jesus left us an example of hymn-singing: “And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives” (Mt.26:30; Mk.14:26).
In the words of an old preacher: “A song may reach us where a sermon fails.” Apart from David, the Bible also refers to the “Songs of Moses” which the children of Israel were commanded to sing and to teach their children: “for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of your seed” (Dt.31:21). Moses wrote and taught the song to the children of Israel, to motivate them to always obey the Lord. The world is getting saturated with carnal, sensual, and worldly music. Satan also is using music to motivate multitudes into evil. Thank God, we can sing and compose songs. We can sing hymns and spiritual songs. We can sing new songs to the Lord. We can also sing in the spirit and in our understanding. We can lift up the Banner of Righteousness through positively motivating music, to stem the tide of the world’s options. And like Moses, we must pass on the batons of God’s words, statutes, and revelations to our children and their generations through the medium of music. Never forget this: Music Motivates!

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
