“Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit…We shall see WHAT WILL BECOME OF HIS DREAMS!” – Genesis 37:20
The Sovereign God is the POWER BEHIND MY DREAM! Joseph’s brothers schemed his termination: “…Look, this dreamer is coming! “Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ We shall see what will become of his dreams!” (vv.19b-20). They were not aware of the Power Behind his Dream – a Dream too precious than to be left undefended. The record of Joseph’s life offers us deep Insights. Here are Five Nuggets:
God has a vision and dream for your future: He has a unique plan and a dream He will put in your heart if you let Him. There is no fixed pattern as to how He will show you this purpose for your life. Sometimes He reveals His plan in actual dreams or visions but more often than not, as you walk in His Word: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psa.119:105). As you abide within His will, you’ll be led in the direction of your destiny.
Your dream will be threatened, irrespective of how you try to live right. Joseph’s brothers were not impressed by his obedience to his father and obviously didn’t like the fact that he told the truth whenever they did wrong (Gen.37:2). They also hated and envied him for his dreams. Trying to live the right way wouldn’t make you acceptable to all. Your lifestyle inadvertently highlights the wrong that others do, which may make them dislike you. When you choose to live right as you follow your dream, you will definitely offend some people, but you must not be deterred; it’s part of the price to pay!
God processes dreams sovereignly: the first steps toward fulfilling your dream may not be what you expect. God gave Joseph a dream about his future which made him excited, imagining that one day he would be a leader (v.9). The dream was accurate; he would eventually be a great leader but the path to this greatness was not exactly what he expected. Joseph was cruelly betrayed by his brothers, thrown in a dry well to die, but sovereignly rescued and sold as a slave. In like manner, after God has put a dream in our heart, it may look like circumstances are taking us in the exact opposite direction and we may begin to doubt His promise. This is the time to believe even more for His ways are not our ways (Isa. 55: 8-9).
Your Destiny is Unstoppable: no one (with the exception of yourself) can bring your divine purpose to a premature end. Joseph’s brothers intended to destroy him along with his dreams: “Come therefore, let us now kill him…We shall see what will become of his dreams!” (v.20). But God prevented them from doing this. As long as you keep believing and don’t pull the plug on your dream, you will witness its ultimate fulfilment. God will use the very people that try to deter you, to lead you toward fulfilling the dream. He turned Joseph’s brutal betrayal around to allow him go into Egypt where he would eventually see his dreams come true.
Recognise the Purpose in your Pain: God’s purpose will prevail in spite of your pain. You might have had cause to pray desperately that God would change the circumstances that were putting you under pressure, and got no response! Joseph probably felt the same way when he was sold off by his brothers, hoping that God would somehow save and restore him to his father, but He did not. The circumstances you wish removed may be the stepping stones towards your dream. You will have to trust and believe that God knows what’s best for you. If God had answered Joseph’s prayer, he would have been saved a lot of pain but would also have stopped his going to Egypt and ended the route to his destiny.
Anyone planning the premature end of my destiny shall encounter GOD as the POWER BEHIND MY DREAM!

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
