UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WAYS (1)

“Jesus said to him, “I AM THE WAY, the truth, and the life…” – John 14:6a

The starting point to UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WAYS is to have a living relationship with THE WAY: “Jesus said to him, “I AM THE WAY, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (Jh.14:6). Jesus is THE WAY to all of God’s Ways – His Principles, Approaches and Strategies. All of these are perfectly exemplified in His Person. Jesus is The Way, not just a Way among many. No one, irrespective of status, reputation, or special knowledge, can access the Father, except through Jesus. He is the Way to heaven, having come down from there (Jh.3:13). He returned and by His Blood, secured access for all who believe in, accept His finished work, and follow Him.

JESUS is the Way to the Father. Thomas had queried: “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I AM THE WAY, the truth, and the life” (v.6). Our Lord turned this discourse about His destination and direction, to affirm to His disciples and all Believers, that He is not merely a way in terms of being an Model for us to follow, but the Only Way to our Heavenly Father!

JESUS is the Way of Salvation: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be SAVED” (Jh.3: 16-17). He is the Door of Salvation: “I am the DOOR. If anyone enters by Me, he will be SAVED, and will go in and out and find pasture” (Jh.10:9). Peter said: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be SAVED” (Acts 4:12). Paul also: “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (1Tim.2:5).

JESUS is the New and Living Way: “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the BLOOD of JESUS, by a NEW and LIVING WAY which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh” (Heb.10: 19-20). There is no other divinely-ordained way into God’s Presence: “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil.2: 9-11).

JESUS is the Way to Every Spiritual Blessing: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places IN CHRIST” (Eph.1:3). Intimacy with Jesus is the Key to Understanding God’s Ways!
