VICTORY OVER FLYING ARROWS

But God shall shoot them with an arrow; suddenly they shall be wounded – Psalm 64:7

“You shall not be afraid…of the arrow that flies by day” (Psa.91:5). The ‘arrow that flies by day’ is figurative of evil or disaster that comes by day. While many pestilences seem to attack in the darkness of the night, some daringly wicked workers of iniquity “bend their bows to shoot their arrows” by day (Psa.64:3). They need the visibility of daytime to target their victims. Whether it is an arrow of bitter words, of demonic deception, of witchcraft violence, or of vicious occult attacks, God says He will reply the wicked arrow-for-arrow, and “suddenly they shall be wounded” (v.7). God’s arrows of plague, pestilence, and famine will cause His enemies to bow! All those who intend to injure the destiny of God’s beloved shall be fatally wounded!

What is important to note is this: An arrow does not send itself. Arrows are messengers. Behind every arrow are the mind, arms, and fingers of an archer with his or her bow and string. Arrows are intentional weapons. When the wicked see that their evil matters are exposed and their secret snares are broken and scattered, then they may turn on their arrows to shoot in the direction of the righteous (vv.3-5). But the God who knows the heart and mind of every creature will nullify the evil motives and scatter the diabolical moves of every “shooter” of arrows against our destinies. Every arrow of witchcraft, spells, incantations, invocations, and manipulations shall be broken into pieces, in Jesus Name.

When you live and walk by faith in Christ, you shall be protected from the cowardly attacks of crafty cruelty, preserved from cunning deception, and secured from harm that is hidden in sudden temptations. Day has its perils as well as night. Satan’s poisoned and deadly arrows are flying noiselessly through the air, but we shall not be their victims as long as we dwell under the shadow of the Almighty and find both shield and buckler in our God. With his quiver empty and wasted, Satan’s broken darts shall be to us trophies of the Truth that all power belongs to our God! The archers of evil shall receive their just recompense from Jehovah, the Man of War, in Jesus Name.
