WISDOM OF TIMES AND SEASONS (3)

“So teach us to NUMBER our DAYS, that we may gain a HEART of WISDOM” – Psalm 90:12

Fruitfulness, Growth and Maturity in all domains of life, are guided by the WISDOM of TIMES and SEASONS: “So teach us to NUMBER our DAYS, that we may gain a HEART of WISDOM” (Psa.90:12). Moses began by describing the Eternal God: “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God” (vv.1-2). God lives outside of Time, and in His Wisdom, made us Creatures of Eternity passing through Time!

He says of this Eternal God, “For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night.” God’s perspective to Time differs from ours. We live within fleeting time: “They are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up; in the morning it flourishes and grows up; in the evening it is cut down and withers” (vv.5-6). The duration of our earthly existence is bounded by Time, and typically less than 100,000 Days: “The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty...” (v.10a). Knowing the brevity, frailty, and temporalty of life in Time, should motivate us to “number our days” and “gain a Heart of Wisdom.”

However, as tiny as it is in the Ocean of Eternity, God values Time. God numbers Time, and instructs us to do so. For example, God knows the Timing of every baby in the womb! In wisdom, He set specific durations from conception, through pregnancy, to the delivery of various species of animals. As anointed as John the Baptist was, he spent his full time in Elizabeth’s womb: “Now Elizabeth’s FULL TIME came for her to be delivered, and she brought forth a son” (Lk.1:57). Every process of development, growth, and maturity in life, works by this Wisdom. As it was with Elizabeth, so it was when the angel of the Lord visited Mary, to announce the miraculous conception of Baby Jesus: “...while they were there, the DAYS were COMPLETED for her to be delivered” (Lk.2:6). The Son of God completed His Womb-Season!

On the path of Destiny-fulfilment, God will not compromise the Wisdom of Times and Seasons. To possess His Peace in Life’s stormy seas, we must learn to discover, discern, accept, appreciate, and adapt to His Timing: “He has made everything beautiful in ITS TIME” (Ecc.3:11a). King Saul lost his kingdom to the folly of impatience; not waiting fully “according to the TIME SET by Samuel” (1Sam.13:8). God sent forth His Son, “when the FULLNESS of TIME had come” (Gal.4:4a). “When the Day of Pentecost had FULLY COME...” the Holy Spirit of Promised filled the waiting hearts in the Upper Room (Acts 2:1). I believe that the Set Time for my Favour has come (Psa.102:13). How about you?
