Psalm 77: 5-15

“Has His mercy ceased forever? HAS HIS PROMISE FAILED forevermore?”  – Psalm 77:8

David, the Man of Faith, learnt to overcome occasional onslaughts of doubt against God’s DIVINE PROMISES: “Has His mercy ceased forever? HAS HIS PROMISE FAILED forevermore?” (Psa.77:8). Today’s meditation passage depicts how overcoming the assault of doubt against God's promises requires shifting from a focus on personal misery to a remembrance of God’s historical faithfulness. The psalmist moved from internal despair to confident, faith-filled praise by meditating on God’s works. The Believer in Christ must learn to do the same.

The psalmist was in deep distress, struggling with insomnia and a soul that refused to be comforted. He questioned God’s Character, asking if God had forgotten to be gracious or had in anger shut up His Mercy (vv.5-9). Verse 8 signified the peak of the internal doubt struggle: “Has His promise failed forevermore?" This suggests a fear that the covenantal promises of God, which held true for ancestors, had finally run out. It was a cry of “faith in tension," where the psalmist was not necessarily denying God but was struggling to reconcile present silence with past experiences of divine goodness. The turning point came when he shifted his focus from the problems to God's "right hand" – His Power and past actions (vv.10-12). He decided to "remember the years of the right hand of the Most High" (v.10).

The shift to God's Holiness and miracle-working Power resulted to Deliverance and the testimony of Redemption, as he acknowledged that God is the same regardless of circumstances (vv.13-15). We can engage in a similar focus shift through these prophetic proclamations.

In Jesus’ name, I decree and declare that:

God’s Promises are yea and amen in Christ, therefore, no doubt shall cause my faith to fail. The “years of the right hand of the Highest” are working in my favour, restoring lost years and delayed blessings.

My current threatening situation is the path for God's supernatural deliverance. His Loving-kindness has not ceased, and His mercies are new for me this morning and every other morning.

The Dominion and Power to overcome every attack of doubt is released upon me now. The "waters" of life – the chaos and confusion in the world – shall see the Power of God and flee.

My God is the God who works wonders; He is revealing His Strength on my behalf. I will no longer be a victim of my emotions, but a victor through the Word of God.

Every closed door of opportunity is broken open by the power of the Highest. I submit like a sheep under the guidance of the Great Shepherd, who will not let me falter.

The enemy shall no longer flood my mind with doubts, as I turn my gaze from my circumstances toward the Faithfulness of the Lord, with songs in the night, and the wonders of old.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
