“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them…” – Matthew 9:36a

Oswald J. Smith’s “The Passion for Souls,” captures the soul-pursuing call for IMPACT by PASSION: “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd” (Mt.9:36). This call-to-action book urges Believers to pray, obey God, and step out in faith to see souls won for Christ. Drawing on scriptural principles, the concept of "passion for souls" emphasizes the significance of evangelism and the urgent need for Believers to share their faith. This passion, rooted in God's Love and desire for humanity's restoration, compels Believers to actively seek the salvation of others: “for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1Cor.9:16b).

Smith's writings and life demonstrate the profound impact that a burning desire to see others saved as well as a deep love for people, can have on individuals, churches, and the world. 

We would only be remembered in life for our passions; hence the need to locate a consuming passion, and pursue it. We must be passionate about life, and act from our passions, especially for soul-winning. God sent us into this world on a mission into which we can pour our hearts and in turn receive focus, fulfilment, and meaning: “he who wins souls is wise” (Pro.11:30b).
