Zephaniah 2: 3-7

"…For the Lord their GOD WILL INTERVENE for them, and return their captives" – Zephaniah 2:7b

God is sovereign in His chosen agenda of INTERVENTION VISITATION, either for Mercy or Judgment: "The coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed their flocks there; in the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down at evening. For the Lord their GOD WILL INTERVENE for them, and return their captives" (Zeph.2:7). Divine Visitation takes place at personal and national levels. God breaks into human history to intervene, transform, and turn impossible situations around. In today’s meditation passage, while the Lord pronounced judgment on surrounding nations for their pride and arrogance, He offered a unique promise of Mercy to the “remnant” of His people.

The text begins with a Personal Call to seek the Lord (v.3). God urged the humble and meek to seek Him, righteousness, and humility before the day of judgment. God visits the humble, not the proud; hence, we must actively cultivate humility, by pursuing righteousness and a contrite spirit. True Visitation is provoked by a lifestyle of submission, not arrogance. By pronouncing a reversal of fortune, bustling, arrogant cities like Gaza and Philistia were turned into desolation (vv.4-6). Conversely, the land previously ruled by enemies became a quiet pasture for remnant shepherds and folds for flocks. Finally, there was a total turn-around: the enemy's land became the dwelling place of the child of God, moving from captivity to dominion and prosperity, not by human strength but as God intervened to turn away their captivity (v.7b).

The "remnant" represents those who remained faithful in humility, and for whom places of former fear became places of inheritance. That they would "feed their flocks," means God will provide sustenance. Just as the remnant sought the Lord, let’s purposely create an atmosphere of worship and obedience. Visitation also guarantees security for the faithful: They will "lie down" in the houses of their enemies in peace. We must trust God for sudden Turnarounds: No matter how long a situation has been “in captivity,” a single visit from God can turn the tide! And, we can be expectant for God to bless us in the very places where we previously experienced rejection, setbacks or opposition.

In Jesus’ Name, I affirm that:

Because I serve the Lord, my season of visitation has come. Therefore, I receive the grace to dwell in quietness, peace, and safety.

The Lord is turning away every long-standing captivity. I am the remnant of the Lord, and I shall be fed and feed my flocks in peace.

What was once a desolate land in my life is becoming a prosperous field. I shall lie down in safety and peace in dominion over my enemies.

The Lord God is visiting my health, family, career, finances, and ministry. I will testify of the Lord’s restoration of my fortunes and prosperity.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
